MORAY CONCERT BRASS CHAIR’S REPORT SEPTEMBER 2025
The Chair, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, presents her report and financial statements for the year ended March 2025
| am delighted to report that the past year has once again seen MCB enjoy a wide and varied range of experiences and performances throughout Moray, thanks toJ MBE, our truly inspirational band leader.
Founded by Glenn in 1992 from the Moray Music Centre Senior Brass Band, he has worked tirelessly to offer his players musical and life experiences which have had lasting impact. One legacy significant number of band members have gone on to have a career in the music industry as professional musicians or music teachers. Many return to rehearsemembers andstill haveperform a linkwhenever withathey are thehome.life-longMostfriendspast band they made as young players.
In recent years, the band has welcomed adults, adding a new dimension and for that | personally will be forever grateful and immensely happy.
In the past year, our current band members and our audiences have been lucky to experience wide-ranging performance opportunities. These include a variety of concerts, such as a Christmas concert, Schools Out, Victory in Japan Concert. Other performances such as Christmas carols in various locations, the MacMoray Festival, the Rotary Motorfun, performing at Bishopmill Primary’s summer fete, St John’s Church, a band member's wedding in Elgin Cathedral to namea few, allow band members to prepare for and perform to different audiences in different venues. Two particular highlights of this year have been the opportunity for band members to work with composer gg a long-time friend of MCB whose compositions and arrangements we play at most concerts. Another recent highlight was our weekend withJ GE international trumpet player and left-handed golfer extraordinaire. Seriously though, his Masterclass passed on many wonderful and inspirational tips to our players, followed by a wonderful concert in Moray Community Church.

This is the essence of the MCB family — a band where people of all ages and abilities are welcomed and nurtured. A band where lasting friendships are formed, where parents and extended family are welcomed and where people are motivated to learn and be their best, thanks to our band master, i
We are always delighted to have the support of parents and adult band members who can help out with providing refreshments and raffles at concerts; transporting instruments to and from venues, fundraising and so much else. | would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supports the band in these and so many other ways, your help is vital to the success of MCB and is never taken for granted.
Thanks also goes to our Board of Trustees, in particular our Secretary, our Treasurer i who continues to work tirelessly in so many ways, most importantly to ensure music folders are complete for every rehearsal, an enormous job which ensures the smooth-running of each rehearsal and performance.
He has dedicated his life to encouraging and teaching people to play brass instruments. He has influenced the lives of many people, some of whom have gone on to become professional musicians and music teachers and many others who just play for the sheer enjoyment and oT me in congratulating Glenn.
