Charitable Purposes: To save lives and improve health outcomes within the community of Neilston, Uplawmoor, and surrounding areas by providing rapid emergency medical response and public health education.
Summary of Activities:
-
Emergency Response: Maintaining a team of trained volunteers dispatched via 999 to medical emergencies.

-
Community Education: Conducting CPR demonstrations, training events, and community engagement sessions.
-
Operational Readiness: Maintaining two response vehicles and a dedicated base to facilitate 24/7 readiness and volunteer training.
4. Achievements and Performance
Despite a challenging economic climate, the charity successfully maintained its 11-year presence in the community. Key achievements this year include:
-
Operational Sustainability: Successfully secured the Neilston Windfarm Legacy Grant , which was vital in stabilising our financial position after a period where expenditure outweighed income.
-
Asset Management: Funded the rising costs of public liability, vehicle, and contents insurance. This ensured our two response vehicles remained fueled, maintained, and fully operational.
-
Fundraising: We organised a Race Night in the local bowling club which raised over £1,000 for us which went towards consumables for defibrillators and running costs. We attended the Neilston Agricultural Show to raise awareness of our organisation, carry out CPR / Defib awareness and raise some funds from donations from members of the public. Member of the public chose our charity to walk in the Glasgow Kiltwalk raising £1,200 for our group.
-
CPR / Defib Awareness: Our group organised various events ensuring the local residents get the opportunity to practice life saving skills in a controlled environment, we published these on our Social Media site and can be viewed to show the success of these events with lots of local residents attending these sessions.
-
Volunteer Base: Maintained our local base, which is essential for recruiting responders from further afield and providing a safe environment for skills maintenance and public CPR training.
-
Defibrillator Network: Continued the upkeep of community AED cabinets and managed the rising costs of consumables (pads and batteries). This ensured that equipment was "offline" for the minimum time possible following a deployment.
-
Miscellaneous: Our scheme coordinator and trustee was awarded Citizen of the Year through East Renfrewshire Council, a testament to Stephens incredible volunteering. We attended the Neilston War Memorial Remembrance event to pay tributes to the fallen.
5. Financial Review
Statement on the Charity’s Policy on Reserves: The Trustees aim to maintain a reserve level that covers at least 3 months of core operating costs to protect against fluctuations in fundraising income.
Financial Health: At the start of the 2024/25 period, the charity faced significant pressure due to increased running costs and consumables pricing. Through proactive management and the successful acquisition of grant funding, we have stabilised our accounts. We remain grateful for the ongoing general donations from the public during our community events.
6. Plans for Future Periods
For the 2025/26 financial year, our primary goals are:
-
Diversifying Income: Increasing proactive fundraising efforts to reduce reliance on grants and ensure long-term service viability.
-
Community Outreach: Expanding the reach of our CPR demonstrations and engagement sessions.
-
Operational Excellence: Continuing to provide a high-standard, rapid response service in partnership with the Scottish Ambulance Service.
Declaration: The trustees declare that they have approved the trustees' report above.
