Charitable purposes

Summary of the main activities in relation to these objects

To benefit people who live or work within the geographical boundaries of the former Barr Parish Council area and/ or within the geographical boundaries of the Barr Community Council area (the “Community”) , to protect the Barr Community Hall as an asset at the heart of the rural community, and to establish a viable and sustainable community facility for all ages and abilities in the Community.

None of the Trustees received any remuneration in the period ending 30th November 2024.

Activities and Achievements during the period

A notable year for the community with an asset transfer request for the village hall being approved by South Ayrshire Council; a huge step towards the planned creation of a modern, multi-purpose Community Hub. The SCIO will now submit a formal offer to purchase the

A number of associate groups secured flllldin8 for coll)mllllity activities this year with the assistance of the SCIO'S Developnieiit Officer, includin8 the Moiiday Club 'Cozy Space,, the annual Girvan to Ba￿ walL Barr Sheepdog trials. aJ]d ihe Ba￿0￿eter con]munity newsletter. With the valiied siipport of local volullleers, many activities have taken place under the SCIO nbrella, incliiding the higlily siiccessful Monday Club weekly lunches and the BaTskaig Bash, a well-attended social evellt organised in conji￿ctIon with the B￿7. Coll]wunity Association. A Girvan to Barr wa]k in late September saw 55 people completing a 12km hike over the C.arrick hills. Liwcb was laid oll in ihe village hall by the Coll)mUllity Association alld SCIO volullleers Tan a baT to siipport general fi￿dS with inusic to Touiid off the evening. It is lioped that tliis walk will become an annual event thanks to some much appreciated support from residents of both CO]￿ni￿ltieS. An axe throw￿8 / atchery day foi the ovei-50s was aTrall8ed ￿ conjunctioll with Adventure Centre for Ediicatioll (ACE Girvan). ACE also organised oveT-50s C￿loel￿g experiellce on the River Girvan, much io the enjoymellt of all who took part. A very siiccessful Paddy Bi]rns night was held early March with 90 ￿]estS. In addition to the i￿ual poety i'eadillgs, wusical elltertainwent was provided by a popular local band, a duel from Girvan. ￿]d a younger Ba￿ residellt. Transport froni Girv￿] was aLTanged throiigli South Ayrsbii'e Coll]munity Transport and baggis, neeps and champ was prep￿.ed and served by Monday Club volunteers. FINANCLIL REPORT During the year, the Barr Coll]mm]ity SCIO bad an income of £28,639 and the costs incurred were £11,784 leavillg £16,855 which was added lo the Reserve AccOl￿t. The SCIO takes a caiitious view Oll reseTves and diie to the llature of the fulld￿g received, many of the funds are restiieted for particular purposes.
