## **APPENDIX 1**

## **Reference and administration details**

**Names of all other charity trustees during the period, if any, (for example, those who resigned part way through the financial period)**

**Name Dates acted if not for whole year Structure, governance and management Type of governing document** The Constitution of Synergy Explorers. It is based closely on the standard OSCR model constitution for a single-tier SCIO. A copy of the current constitution has been lodged with OSCR. **Trustee recruitment and appointment** The Board is made of Charity Trustees who are recruited with the agreement of the Board at a quorate meeting of the Board. The process is for a Board member to nominate an individual and then to have the Board vote on the nomination. A simple majority of members present is needed for a new Trustee to be recruited. The processes covering the operation of the Board are set out in clauses 14 to 42 of the Constitution. The Charity Trustees are also the Members of the organisation for the purposes of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005. **Objectives and activities Charitable purposes** To advance science by stimulating debate about the factors that may affect sustainable harmony between intimate partners and to apply the evidence produced by the debate to the moral and ethical questions of the day.

**Summary of the main activities in relation to these objects**

2024-2025 was the sixth year of operation of Synergy Explorers.

Our work revolved around building the operations of the charity:

- Developing our brand through the website at https://synergyexplorers.org.

- Delivering an online course for audiences in Scotland and around the world.

## **Achievements and performance**

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the financial period**

- The website traffic to https://synergyexplorers.org increased significantly from 78,882 visitors in the fifth year to 125,200 this year. We added 12 additional pages to the website (last year 6).

- A free audio course called “Enlightened Sex – The Practicalities” available through the website had 114 enrollments during 2024-25, a noticeable increase on the 93 in the previous year.

- In the year to 30 June 2025 different contributors had published a total of 35 additional blog posts on the website (previous year it was 40).

## Financial review

## **Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves**

Synergy Explorers would like to set reserves at £1,000, equal to one year’s basic operating costs. This amount is feasible and proportionate for the third operating year of a charity.

## **Details of any deficit**

The charity did not have a deficit during this year.

Donated facilities and services (if any)

The Charity Trustees donated an estimated total of 500 hours of free labour towards the delivery of the audio course, and the development and maintenance of the website and blogs.
