**What the charity does:** To advance, promote and further the education of beekeepers and the public in the craft of beekeeping and to conserve the natural environment by promoting the importance of bees and by encouraging the planting of bee friendly plants, trees and flowers. We do this by organising practical education programmes and outreach events. Also hosting visits to the Bee Academy and teaching apiary for non-members and by making our premises available to neighbouring associations and educational establishments. We work closely with schools and Newbattle Abbey College to promote the art and craft of beekeeping.

**Objectives:** Purposes: The Association’s purposes are: 4.1 To advance, promote and further the education of beekeepers and the public in the craft of beekeeping in all its forms throughout, but not exclusively, in Midlothian and Scotland. 4.2 To help conserve the natural environment by promoting the importance of bees as pollinators and by planting and encouraging the planting of bee friendly plants, trees and flowers. 4.3 Supporting environmental conservation for the benefit of the honeybee and promoting the importance of bees in the environment.
