The charity's prime activity is the operation of the Lammermuir Festival which aims to contribute to the cultural, social and economic well-being of the people of East Lothian and Scotland. The Lammermuir Festival presents classical music of the highest international standard in multiple venues across East Lothian, The festival is promoted with the sub-heading 'Beautiful music, Beautiful places' and all performances are carefully and creatively matched to their location so they are presented in some of the most beautiful and architecturally significant venues across East Lothian. Established in 2010, the festival takes place annually over a 12-day period in September. By the end of 2024 the festival had presented 350 performances in 60 venues.

Objectives: 4. The SCIO will promote Charitable purposes, specifically the promotion and development of arts, culture and education through the fundraising for and the receipt of funds (via the public, other charities and organisations, legacies and otherwise) and then the holding of investment, payment or application of the SCIO's funds for the charitable purposes including the following: 4.1 Encouraging the practice of and education in the arts in Scotland 4.2 Promoting festivals which give opportunities for talent from Scotland and from around the world 4.3 Contributing to the cultural, educational and economic well-being of Scotland 4.4 Attracting local audiences as well as visitors from across the UK and abroad 4.5 Engaging young people as performers and audiences 4.6 Supporting organisations which encourage similar objectives 4.7 Undertaking other activities which support these Purposes 5. For the purposes of the 2005 Act the following charitable purposes are (i) particularly relevant and (ii) are the charitable purposes identified as applicable from section 7 of the 2005 Act: 5.1 The advancement of education. and 5.2 The advancement of the arts, heritage and culture
