Activities

'It carries out activities or services itself'

'the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended','the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage'

Mearns Minibus Link was initially set up to provide an efficient, affordable community transport system and to give community groups, not-for-profit organisations, and local residents who are rurally and socially isolated, access to a safe, reliable community minibus. Local people, especially those with mobility issues, can find it difficult to get out to attend activities or get to medical appointments so we give people the means to access facilities and opportunities that would otherwise be inaccessible to them. We have a small group of volunteer drivers who are all MiDAS trained (the nationally recognised Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) and we can also offer this training to representatives of local community groups. Any not-for-profit group can hire the minibus but their driver has to have a current MiDAS certificate. Our small minibus is also wheelchair-accessible and is well maintained and regularly checked.

Objectives: to provide a recreational facility, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. This will be achieved by the provision and maintenance of a reliable community minibus which will counter the disadvantages of rural isolation in the Mearns area. and to advance the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage by providing them with the means to access a range of facilities and opportunities that would otherwise be inaccessible to them
