Basis of independent My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts
examiner’s statement Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the
charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes
consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks
explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken
do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, | do
not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the
requirements:
* to keep accounting records in accordance with section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and

Scottish Charity Registration Number SC049506 1 ## **Charitable Purposes** The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. ## **Charitable Objects** To provide opportunities for recreational activities at Kessington Hall by maintaining, repairing and improving the facilities at an existing building which was disused for 3 years until September 2021; as agreed with East Dunbartonshire Council, and as expressed in the Business Plan, to focus primarily on the use of the hall as an artistic hub for community music, theatre, dance, collaborative projects and related activities, thereby making it available to the public for a wide range of social and entertainment activities; to encourage the adoption of pastimes or pursuits that will be beneficial to health and wellbeing, reducing social exclusion and providing opportunities for learning and practicing skills. ## **Activities and Achievements** DCB Kessington SCIO was established on 31[st] July 2019. A 25-year lease of the property, agreed with East Dunbartonshire Council, commenced on 2[nd] September 2021. We have let rooms within the hall to 20 regular groups mainly during school term time supplemented by workshops during school holidays with use being specifically for music, arts and dance. There has been an increase in use of the hall in this financial year for workshops during the school summer holidays 2025, consisting two weeks of Art workshops and three weeks of musical theatre workshops. Considerable voluntary help continues to be received from the community with maintaining the garden, painting, cleaning, repairs, refurbishment, maintenance and administration. We used a grant awarded in the 2023-2024 financial year to assist groups who would not otherwise have been able to start up or continue their activities. Our website ‘dcb-kessington.co.uk’ contains a brief history of the building, which was originally an electricity sub-station built in 1924 to provide power for the BearsdenMilngavie trams and became a public hall when the tram service ended in 1956. Our website contains information on how to request a hall booking and contains a calendar showing availability of rooms. ## Accounts Income has been received from lets of the hall and this has increased in 2024-2025 due to an increase in the number of lets. Expenditure in the financial year to 31%t July 2025 has been on roof repairs, a replacement gas boiler, refurbishment of the kitchen and general maintenance.
