NVP Annual Report

This report summarises the activity of the Nepal Volunteer Program (NVP) board between the last NVP annual general meeting (AGM) held on 15/05/2022 and the NVP AGM for 2023, held 27/04/2023.
NVP Board
The NVP Board was re-elected to serve 2022/2023 at the NVP AGM held on 15/05/2022.
stepped down as Executive Director to become PR and Volunteer Advisor.
was elected Executive Director.
was elected Digital Advisor.
stepped down as Nepal Cultural Advisor.
was brought in as trustee.
continues as Finance Officer.

Achievements

A bank account was obtained.

A website was developed on SquareSpace and paid for with funds from the pilot program.

Volunteer documents e.g. handbook were revisited and improved.
Closure
Over the course of the past year, the board has found it increasingly hard to keep up their commitment to NVP. It has been agreed that steps will be taken to dissolve the charity pending the completion of the AGM on 27/04/23.
While we remain committed to the mission of creating connections between the UK and Nepal, currently NVP is not the right vehicle to do so.
We are proud of the vision we shared. In 2021 we raised several hundred pounds, enabling to conduct relief efforts in the wake of the Helambu flood. Four people did placements in Nepal that will stay with them for the rest of their lives - whether it was getting the confidence to pursue a career in medicine, living with a family from a culture different to their own, discovering the joy of teaching, or simply making friends that they are still in touch with today. We are confident that through our time as NVP we have made the connections necessary to direct those interested in volunteering in Nepal to the right place, even if NVP will not be the organization that delivers those placements.
The board expresses particular thanks to Purna for his work making the placements a possibility.
