IYV promotes Children and Young People's rights, supporting their participation and empowering them to have a greater say in decisions that affect their lives. We do this by delivering participation opportunities that support children and young people's voice and choice to make real change in their lives and communities.

Objectives: 5.1 The purposes of the organisation are:- To advance human rights, promote equality and diversity and relieve those in need by contributing towards the provision of the highest possible standards of services in the Highlands (as determined by the Highland Council area as defined in the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994) for the benefit of children and young people with additional support needs (as defined in the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004). 5.2 The organisation seeks to achieve its purposes by: 5.2.1 Representing and enabling the expression of the views and needs of children and young people with additional support needs aged from 0 to 25 years (as defined in the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014). 5.2.2 Incorporating the views of their families and carers. 5.2.3 Empowering and enabling the direct participation and voice of children and young people with additional support needs (ASN). 5.2.4 Empowering children and young people with additional support needs to create, develop and deliver training and educational resources to promote positive inclusion and change. 5.2.5 Promoting greater awareness and understanding of children?s rights. 5.2.6 Ensuring the voices of children and young people with additional support needs go on to influence policy and practice at local and national levels. 5.2.7 Working in partnership across sectors to develop policy and promote best practice and inclusion.
