Financial review
Policy on reserves
The Organisation holds sufficient in reserve to fund the purchase of the following years summer bedding (circa £500) plus running costs for 3 — 6 months as a contingency. It is intended that this be the minimum reserves held. All the reserves are unrestricted.
Surplus/deficit during the year
The Society made a loss of £403 mainly due to the spending of funding received during the previous financial year. Funding from our regular sponsors was sought this year and we are pleased to report that most of our past sponsors have again supported us.
Donated facilities and services
Meeting rooms are provided free of charge at South Loirston. Sponsorships, and donations (including supplies such as paper and plants) are provided by local businesses and individuals.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE ROYAL HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY OF ABERDEEN
I report on the accounts ofthe charity for the year ended 31° July 2025 which are set out in page 6.
This report is made to the charity’s trustees, as a body, in accordance with the terms of the engagement. My work has been undertaken to enable me to undertake an independent examination of the charity’s accounts on behalfof the trustees and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the charity and the charity’s trustees as a body, for my work or for this report.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation ofthe accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under Section 44 (1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review ofthe accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express and audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent examiner’s statement
-
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention
-
Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
-
e¢ to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44 (1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and
-
e {o prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
-
have not been met, or
- to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
