Trustee's report for the year ended 31 May 2025
The trustee presents this report and the accounts for the year ended 31 May 2025.
Structure, Governance And Management
The Hanlon Stevenson Foundation (HSF) is a Scottish Registered Charity (SC 049330)formed in May 2019.
Achievements and Future Plans
The initial funding for HSF was provided by donations from Paul Hanlon and Lewis Stevenson as part of the proceeds from their respective Testimonial Years. The purpose of HSF is primarily youth related with a view to assisting less privileged children. HSF is self-funded, and all monies received will be donated to selected charities and other projects. No salaries or fees will be paid to any of the Trustees and all Trustees have agreed to pay their own expenses.
Our main beneficiary this year was Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity with our £10,000 donation being utilised in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) unit of the hospital. Other achievements included buying and donating 1000 Easter Eggs to various schools and hospitals.
We also created a number of opportunities for selected children at Hibernian FC and Raith Rovers FC by purchasing a variety of products including mascot packages and match tickets.
Our Twelve Days of Christmas initiative was a success as we donated £1000 to twelve different charities.
Your donations helped to make all of this work possible and your future donations are key to our continued success.
Trustees
The Trust's trustees are appointed or reappointed annually at its AGM. The trustees who served during the year are as stated below:

Independent examiner's report to the trustees on the
unaudited financial statements of The Hanlon Stevenson Foundation
In accordance with the engagement letter dated 11 June 2025 I have compiled the financial statements of the charity which comprise the profit and loss account, the statement of balances and the related notes from the accounting records and information and explanations you have given to me.
This report is made to the charity's trustees, as a body, in accordance with the terms of our engagement. My work has been undertaken so that I might compile the financial statements that I have been engaged to compile, report to the charity's trustees that I have done so and state those matters that I have agreed to state to them in this report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the charity and the charity's trustees, as a body, for my work or for this report.
I have carried out this engagement in accordance with technical guidance issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and have compiled with the ethical guidance laid down by the Institute relating to members undertaking the compilation of financial statements.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent examiner's statement
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts regulations, and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts regulations have not been met, or
-
2.- to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
