The organisation was granted charitable status by OSCR on 10 May2019. Appointment of Tru8tse8 Board members are elected at the Annual General Meeting. Under the constitution, there must be a minimum of three and not more than eleven elected trustees. The trustees may co-opt three trustees if they consider it would be in the interests of the organisation to do so. Membership is open to any individual aged 16 or over living within Clackmannanshire and groupslorganisations operating within Clackmannanshire who support the objectives of the Trust. Membership applications can be considered at any meeting of the Board. Management The Board is responsible for the strategic direction and governance of the Trust and fc)r the day-to-day management of the organization. The trustees are particularly aware of their responsibilities for Health and Safety, especially for the children. The advancement of education and outdoor learning in the local environment. Chairperson Report Annual Report 2024125 GDCPDT Maln Activllle8 & Rovlow 2024125: The seasons go by, and we note and experienceth8 changes in our Keather and thè natural environment, and these differences 8nd diver8ityalway8 add to our enjoyment throughout the year of the Gartmorn Dam Country Park The Trust has remainéd closely connect6d to th8 park throughout the 8a880n8 of 2024125 and has engaged the communlty, tocal Schools and our own volunteers with a range of actlvltles at the Sunken Garden , tts envlrons and the wld8r country park. The Trust can be viewed as operating on two levels.. Strategically concerned with the longer-terrn development of the Park and more operationallythrough facilitating opportunities for local people to engage ¥vith the Parks wildnesg and it$ natural assets. Over the 18$t year th6 Trust has been more focussed on brlngingthi8 dichotomytogether and involving local people with the creation of a multi-faceted mester plan for the Park. The aim has been to work In coll8boratlon with the other Park stakeholders to confirm a strategic plan th8t is focused upon Improvlng the p8rks f8cilities and the range of opportunities that are provided. In this respect we would acknowledge our appr8CiBtion forthe the work undertaken by Clackmannanshire Economic R8g8neration Trust ICERD in 88curingthe funding for the commi88ioning of a m88terplan for the Perks development, which w8s carried Iwt by the Green Actlon Trust (GAT). The plan13 dynarnlc and off ers an exciting and coherentvision for the Park and the Trust was very much involved wth the multi-agency Steering Group which was tasked wAth movingthis Masterplan forward. Achlevements & Performance: Despite the pauclty of progress wlth securlng an occupancy agreementfor the Sunken Garden with Clackmannshire Council , the Garden throughout the year rem8ined the focal point for the Trusts operational activities. Th8 Garden is coordinated by long standingTrustee and the mixlure of planned wildness and managed planters 8r8 a great credit to h8r knowledge, skills and resilience. Tho Garden has had 8 greatyeor. tho involvement of Deerpark Primary Schools Eco Committee and some of the young people from Scottish Autlsms New Struan School has been inspiration81. the young p8ople have been engrossed in their activiti@s around the g8rdgn and their willingness to get involved is such an amazing asset for theTrust. We were successful In receiving 8 smallgrant from the Volunteerlng Matters Action Earth climate action initiative in November 2024 which enabled us to support both schools to construct 8nd in3tall around a dozen bat boxes. bug houses and a hedgehog house in and 8round the garden. These actlvlties also Included bulldlng some blrd feeders and planting bulbs which provided additional opportunities for our Longrlggs Young Volunteers and colleagues from the Wimpy Parkcommunity Group to contribute to this Clj'mate Action Project, A regular Chairperson Report Annual Report 2024125 monthly volunteering programme wa8 maintained over the year, and thls Included a Summer Soci81 at the Garden with a consuLt8tion session and a plant Sale at the ne8rby Longriggs, Active travel and Inclusive 8ccess were a theme we promoted in the spring of 2025, and a great day was hosted around the garden and dam he8d, Involvlng Cl8ckm8nn8hlre Rlders Access Group (CRAG) and Cycling Without Age ICWAI. Young and old took part in guided 8nd led bike tours around the p8ths and tracks of the Park, and we were visited by the riders and horses of CRAG who stopped off at the garden for some light refreshments for both the horses and humans. On days likethiswe 8revisited by many member3 of the public who generally are un8W8re of the gardens existence and are usually amazed with its ambience and biodiversity, this SItU8tion highlights the need for improved signage 8nd 8warene88 of the Gardens existence. CWA also used the dayto e8t8blish safe routes In and out and around the garden and its environs fortheir own acces8 groups whlch has gre8tly Improved that organlsations use of the garden and the wlder country park. The year ended wlth the Installatlon of our bespoke deslgned garden shelter, which al80 h8s good storage facillti8s for our gardening equlpment 8nd 8 water capturing system 8180 for garden use. This is a much-needed faclllty offerlng shelter from the elements or lustfor a wee rest, its comfortable 8nd tastefully located Into th8 garden and the location ensures you enjoy the nature and wlldllfe around you. The GDCPDT has played a major role wlth the development of the Parks Masterpl8n 8nd the work undertaken by GAT, In p8rt1cul8r encouraging community engagement with GATS consultation processes. The Trust h8S articulated and advocated for many of the long-term community priorities forthe park and which 8re clearly stated within our own GDCPDT Development Plan , and including the improvement of the paths and access, the need for public toilets and the establishment of a volunteering and learnlng Centrg, relntroductlon of regulated angling, the further development of the sunken g8rden with a volunteer8 hub and advocating for 8 wide array of educational and recreational opportunities that m8ke the best and most appropriate use of the Parks natural assets. Future Plans: The Trust will continue to manage and develop the Sunken Garden and to further facilitate opportunities for the locaL community and schools to be fully engaged there, a regular programme of gardeningworks, 8nd volunteering sessions will be maintained. The Trust will prioritise its role 8nd commitment tothe Masterplan Steering Group, there is consider8ble work required to confirm an appropriate governance structure forthis Group and work with partners to secure the necessary resourcing to move many of the plan's priorities Chairperson Report Annual Report 2024125 forward. The Parks Site of Special Scientific Interest status and wider ecological con8ider£tion8 provide opportunlties and challenges for the Masterplans implemenlation ' however, the Trust looksforward to playlng our role and remittothe full along with the other stakeholders on the SterringGroup. There are administrative pollcies and procedures that the GDCPDT require to update, and these will be progressed as priorities in the comlngyear. The Trust will be lookingfor funding to enable our plans for creating 8 nature and biodiversity corridor on the Margins of the Country Park to be realised, similarly we wlll endevourto secure new project funding th8t enables 8n 8rray of projects involving the local communlty to be undertaken throughout the Country Park. The8e project8 will be oligned tothe GAT Masterplan. our own Development Plan and Ciackmann8hlre3 Councll3 overarchlng Management Plan for the Country Park.
