## **ANNUAL REPORT** 

August.2025. 

## Introduction 

Formerly ‘Friends of Buckie Square’ which began in 2018. Buckies Roots held an Inaugural Meeting on 12[th] February 2019 where 22 members joined and 6 trustees were appointed,  Buckies Roots became a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) on 28 March 2019. 

Our aim is to benefit the community by re-engaging with the wider community to improve open spaces throughout the Buckie & District Community Council area while building Community Spirit. 

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the financial period** 

*We were presented with the Kings Award for Voluntary Service. 

- *We received a level 5 distinction from Keep Scotland Beautiful. 

- Maintain and develop the work we do throughout the year. 

- *Both winter and summer bedding planted and all areas maintained. 

- 3 community Christmas message trees in the raised beds and carols in the square event. 

- Christmas candle lit event in conjunction with Buckie Community Choir and schools. 

- A new Trustee was appointed at the 2024 AGM. 

- Planted Snowdrops at Speyside Way. 

- Litter picks continue throughout all areas supported by TMC. 

- *Increased our membership. 

## **Finances** 

- Rethink Accountants, Aberdeen has checked and submitted our accounts to OSCR. 

## **Connection & Community Engagement.** 

- Supported ‘Glow Gold September’. 

- *Our following on social media has increased. 

- We are invited to speak at various groups. 

- *Organised a successful Summer Charity Gala supporting local charities. 

- *Collaborative work with Findochty Mens Shed 

- *Connections with Schools for craft events and gardening advice. 

- *We have a team that support the community lunches every month. 

- *We have updated KCR on what we have been up to.

- *A good knowledge base within our team. 

- Collaborative work and sharing skills with other groups. 

- *A reserve fund in place which is added to each year if funds allow. 

## **Weakness** 

*We do not have enough gardening volunteers. 

## **Conclusion** 

Finally, I would like to end this report by thanking the following people. 

The Trustees for their diligence, professionalism, hard work and support. 

Our hard working and dedicated volunteers for their support. 

The business community who supported us. 

ethink Accountancy for donating her time to audit and submit our annual account to 

OSCR. 

The wider community who have made such a difference with their support and encouragement. 

More importantly we have seen ‘Community Spirit’ grow.
