The Joint Ex Service Veterans Garden is a garden complex located in Hamilton South Lanarkshire. It is open to veterans from all services. A small cohort maintain the garden and grow mostly vegetables, (potatos, leeks, carrots, strawberries, tomatos, chillie, cucumbers etc), that are distributed to veterans and the elderly when ready. We have a large polytunnel and 10 raised gardens, 3 of which are in the polytunnel,. Once vegetabls are planted to chores are mostly watering and weeding the beds. We have a small cafe with a toilet where visitors can have a cuppa of their choice and talk to other veterans. The garden is also a drop in location for visitors who wish some solitude in a quiet place. Visitors are not required to work, but can if they wish to.

Objectives: 4 The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 The relief of those in need through providing opportunities for veterans of the armed forces residing in Lanarkshire to remain physically and mentally active with the purpose of reducing loneliness and social isolation. 4.2 The provision of recreational facilities and activities including, but not limited to, a garden space that will allow the aforementioned veterans to meet, improve social interaction, learn new skills and, ultimately, improve their conditions of life.
