Achl•v•m•nts and perfomanc•
The p05ilion of Rector remained vacant lor mos¢ ol the year. However, during Ihe Summer the v8can¢
committ88 and Vèstry wèrè plèasèd lo Int8Nièw a candidatè. an ordain￿1 priest within th8 Church of Enoland. to
whom we were delighled to offèr the post. Thè offèr was 3￿pIed. and on 8th September Rèvd Mark Prwlica
took up the position ol Rector. On 28th Septembèr Bishop Andy Lines w&lcomod Revd Prgnti¢e into th8 Anglican
Convocation Europè, and licensed him wlhin thè Galcon fèllowship.
In May 2025 Bishop Lines ordained Rctj Cafdew as a deacon having app)inted him as acting Minister ￿tern In
February. Revd Cardew supported the work of the various committees set up during the vacancy, and did much
work preaching and leading services, assisled by church members and some invited preachers.
Our Sunday worship services have cxjnlinved 83 usual al 10.30, and each Sunday evening we have met lor
Prayer@7. Other rtgular chur¢h groups hav& conlinued 8$ usual. We use ￿chnolOgY to facilitate worship,
pr8yar, pastoral cara and 16llowship, èspèu8lly lof thosa whos8 ability to join us onsrtè is r•str￿t•d. Hom8
groups, which ar8 8 Valuable means ol pastoral ¢are. ￿ntsn￿ed to meel Ihroughgut the year, either In rnemb8r$'
homes or by Z￿m.
Through prayer, financial support and teCh￿￿9Y we have also continued our support ol Christians beyond our
fellowship, with particular focus upon Edinburgh cty centre. the East End of London. and children's work In
Colombia. We also support two ol our members In their work for Crosslinks and ACE. In March Vestry made a
financial contribution lo the ChUrch-￿antsng work of Simon Donohoe in Cherrywood. Dublin. We continue to pray
for the perseculed church worl¢*wide. this year focusing vpon sutrTrSaharan Africa using material provided by
Open Doors. Once again, we hosted the Corstorphine Chris¢mas Support Project whith seeks to support local
families over Christmas.
We continue to benefit from our rnembership of the Anglican Convcratw Europe IACEI, wth a mernber of our
congregation serving as a Trustee. ACE is a founding member of the AngliGqn Network in Europe IANIEI and part
of Gafcon, under the leadership of the Bishcy Andy Lines. 80th ACE and ANIE continue to Show significant
growth. We remain affiliated to the Evangelical Ajliance.
Having been without a Rectory for the past year. in July the Properly Trustees purchased a four*edroom house
al 86 East Craigs Rigg to be the new Reclory. Ouring Ihe year Vestry also made the deasion lo sell our property
at 127 Clerrniston Road with a view to using the funds to purchase a property in West Craigs. Consideration is
also being given to the refurbishmenl of 81 Glasgow Road.

Reserves Policy
It is the policy of the eharity that unrestricted funds whrch have not designated for a specrfic use should be
maintained at a level equivalent lo at least three mnth's ntsmal expernditU￿. The Trustees consider that
reserves at this level will ensure that, in the event ol a significant drop In funding, they will be able to continue the
charity's current activities while consideration is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised. This level
of ￿SerVèS has b8en mainlaine(I throughout Ihè yèar.
Funds hold by Church
The following funds are held by the Church for the purposes explained he￿in..
General Fund Iunrestrictedl.. This represents the Unrestricted funds that are free to be used to ftrlher the 8in15
and operdlion of the Church, in 8ccord8nce the ConstitulK)n. The main income to this fund is general
offèrings and as50eiated tax r¢￿Vered through Grfl ￿￿, and rentals. Stip8nd$, salaries and operatiig expenses
are paid from this fund.
Fixed Asset Fund (Designated): This lund represents Ihe depre¢iated historic cost of fixed assets used by tha
Church.
Discr6tionary Fund IDesignatedl.' This fund is Ltsad at tho discret*)n of the Rector for any purpose regard6d as
appropriate. It is funded from the g8neral fund.
F8bric Repair Fund IDesignatedl'. This fur￿ is held in reserve for the maintenance of the existing buildings used
by the Church. It is lunded by transler5 from the General Fund and by speufic donations.
A Rectory Fund IDe5ignaledl. This fund is deposiied in a ¢reasvry account. It cC￿l8￿nS the net proceeds after
selling the old Rec¢ory and buying Ihe new one, togelher wilh accumulated interesl. The Trustees are considering
how th8 furnd mi9hl be b&sl used.
A Salary Fund (Dèsignalgdl. Thi$ fund wa$ set up to covgf $ignifi¢8nt In￿a$95 In salgdès in luturg years.
World Con￿rn Fund (Restrictedl.. This fund is speaficalty intended for the support ol mission outreach in the
wider wortd (UK and overseas). 11 is warded as a restricted lund. 11 is funded by specffic donations and
associated GIft￿d tax ￿CoVery.

Structure, governance and management
St Thomas, Church is a Scottish Charitable Incorporaled Organisation {SCIOI (No. SC0490451 and govemed by
the terms of its Constitution.
The heritable propety of the Church is vested in three property Trustees. who are appointed under the terms of
the Constitution. The current property Trustees a￿ listed below. A Trusiee is appointed by the rernaining
Trustees when a vacancy arises. The th￿e Twstees then nominate th￿e new"Trustees in waiting. in readiness
for the next vacancy.
The whole lunds and temporal affairs of Ihe congregab.on are under the management Of the Vestry. members of
which are elected or appointed from the body of the congregation. They. and the ordained dergy and other staff,
oversee the day-to4ay operats.￿s ol the Church. The Vestry is obliged to exhibit to the Trustees their accounts
of rnanagement at least once each year.

St Thornas. Church is a Scottish Charitable Ino)rporated Organisation. SCIO Number SC049045. The
registered office address and principle pla￿ of business is 75-79 Glasgow Road, Edinburgh EH12 8LJ.
1.1 Accounting convention
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the charivs Constitution, the Charities and
Trustee Investment Iscollandl Act 2005. the Charities Accounts Iscotlandl Regulations 2006 las amended)
and Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Slatement of Reo)mmended Practice applicable to charities
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Stsndard applicable in the UK and
Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 lelfective 1 January 20191". The charity is a Public Benefrt Enb'ty as defi'ned by
FRS 102.
The charity has laken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for charities applying FRS 102 Update
Bulletin 1 not lo p￿pare a Ststement of Cash Flows.

1.3 Charltable funds
Unrastrictèd funds are availablè for usè at tha disctstion of Trustaas in furthèrance of thalr charitablè
objèctivès.
Restrictsd funds are subject lo spec3fic condilions by donors or grantors as (o how they may be used. The
purposes and use3 of Ihe restricted funds are set out in the noles to the financial stalements.
1.4 Incom•
Incom8 is recognised when the charity 1s18gally entl￿ed to il after any perform8nc8 conditions have been mel.
the amounts can bg measured reliably, and it is probable that inwme wll be received.
Cash donations are ￿CogniSed on receipt. Oiher donations are recognised once the charity has been notified
ol the donation, unless perforrnan￿ conditions require deferral ol the amount. Income tax recoverable in
relation io donalions received under Grfl Aid or deeds of o)venanl is rwnised al the time of the donation.
Legacies are recogniseil on receipt or otherwse if Ihe charity has been notif￿ of an Impending distribution,
the amount is knowm. and receipt is expected. 11 the any)unt is not known, the legacy is treated as a

seeking don8tion5, gr8nts and legaries and investment m8nagemenl costs.

Expenditure on charitable actiwii'es includes all costs incurred by the charity in undertaking activities that
further its charitable aims for the benefit of its beneficiaries. induding those support costs and costs relating to
the governance of the charity apportioned lo charitabb acts'vibes. The costs of charitable acts'vibes presented
in the Statement ol Financial Acts'vits'es indudes Ihe cy)sts ol both direcl service provision and the payments of
grant awards if applicable.
Grant •xp•ndltur•
Grants payable a￿ made lo third parties in the furtherance of the charilable objects. The award of a grant is
recognised as a liability only when the criteria for a constructive obligation a￿ mel. payment is probable, il
can be measured reliably and there a￿ no condrtions attaching to its payment Ihal limit recognition.
In the case of an uncondrtional grant offer. Ihis is ac£￿ed ￿ce the recipienl has been notified of the grant
award. The notification gives the rerypient a rea$￿able expectation tha¢ Ihey will receive the ontryear or
rnulti-ye8r gr8nl. Gr8nl awards Ih8t are subjecl io the r￿lplent fulf Iling performance conditions are only

initial cost is not practicable.

exists. the recoverable amount of the assel is estimated in order ¢0 determine the extent of the impaiment
