## **Action for Local Youth Voice Empowerment UK (ALYVE UK)**

## **Report from the Chair of the Board of Trustees:**

This year has been a year of change for ALYVE UK. While the initial changes have been small, the Board of Trustees has taken the first necessary steps to refresh ALYVE UK and ensure that it delivers on its core mission going forward.

Recognising that the Charity has been treading water for a number of years, and that we need to turn it around, we as a Board have laid the foundations for moving ALYVE UK into a position where it can deliver its core objectives.

In my view, this has been a very worthwhile discussion. I am confident that both the continuing Trustees and the newly recruited members of the Board will be able to successfully take ALYVE UK forward into its next chapter.

Through our meetings we have discussed critical actions. We have considered how we can retain our commitment to being radically youth led while also drawing on a wider range of knowledge and experience found within society where necessary.

I have always been ambitious and, if I’m honest with myself, I do wish we had moved further and faster. I recognise that a number of the steps set out in the 2024 Annual Plan were planned for this year. However, these actions have themselves been delayed as a result of our lack of human capital.

This further highlights why it is critical that the Board commits to the 2024 Annual Plan and, conditions permitting, sticks to it as far as possible. Only by recruiting a New Board of Trustees, filled with fresh energetic young people, can ALYVE UK hope to move forward and deliver its mission.

While not within the 2024 Annual Plan, members of the Board of Trustees will be aware of my long standing view that ALYVE UK needs to move towards having a member of paid professional staff in order to drive ALYVE UK forward. I would strongly encourage the Board to consider this further following the recruitment of the New Trustee Board and the New Advisory Board.

This year marks the end of my tenure as both the Chair of the Board of Trustees and as a member of the Board of Trustees. I have been Chair of the Board for one year and a member of the Board of Trustees for two and a half years. I would like to think that, however small my contribution, I have helped move ALYVE UK forward during my time as both Chair and as a Trustee.

This charity will always have a special place in my heart and I am committed to supporting it in whatever capacity that I can going forward. If the Board of Trustees requires any voluntary assistance from me in the future, I will happily make myself available, you need only ask!

Best Wishes,

_, Chair of the Board of Trustees 2022/2023._

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of “Acton for Local Youth Voice UK”

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 10[th] December 2022 which are set out proceeding this statement.

## Respectve responsibilites of trustees and examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## Basis of independent examiner’s statement

My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

## Independent examiner’s statement

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
