Youth Initiatives Scotland engages young people who face disadvantage and are disengaged from mainstream services and invites them to become involved in programmes and volunteering where they develop skills and character traits that would support them in re-engaging with education or developing positive future pathways. We run after school activity based programmes, evening youth work sessions and school holiday initiatives that connects young people to a positive relational environment where they can grow in life skills, serve others and become active participants in their local community. We actively seek to promote young people through our programmes into leadership and staff positions. In the lkas year we have had hundreds of young people engage in our programmes, around 40 become volunteers and one former volunteer move into a staff apprenticeship position.
