## **Governing Document**
The charity was set up and was recognised as a Scottish charity with effect from 26 September 2018. The charity is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (a SCIO). The charity is administered in accordance with the terms of the constitution.
## **Recruitment and Appointment of trustees**
The Trustees are elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is usually held shortly after our September year end. Under the constitution there must be a ‘minimum of 5 Trustees and not more than 9 elected Trustees’.
## **Charitable purposes**
The Admiral Ramsay Museum was set up with these purposes:
1. To research, present and interpret the life and career of Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsay
2. To provide educational facilities and activities related to the life and career of Admiral Ramsay, the First and Second World War, their people, history, heritage and culture, past and present.
3. To provide support for people undertaking research into the life and career of Admiral Ramsay, the world wars and rural life in Berwickshire, past and present.
4. To provide educational facilities, exhibitions and activities relevant to contemporary rural life in the Scottish Borders
The museum will help:
1. Individuals, groups and schoolchildren to better understand World War Two, the Dunkirk Evacuation, the D- Day Landings, and the key role that Admiral Ramsay played in leading both key operations.
2. The people of Berwickshire and the Scottish Borders to feel proud of one of their local heroes, Admiral Ramsay.

3. Local businesses will benefit from the museum attracting additional visitors to the area, supporting local businesses in Leitholm, Swinton and other neighbouring communities.
4. Military organisations to be better appreciated by the civilian population.
## **Achievements and Performance**
The charity reports the following achievements in the year:
- The Charity opened for its second season in 2024, receiving over 540 visitors throughout the season, including 74 who came to a lecture for the 80[th] Anniversary of D-Day, given by Professor Hew Strachan.
- We received a tour bus, who paid £1,000. We have them a tour of Bughtrig House as well as the Museum.
- We received a grant of £2,750 from Blackhill Windfarm, which we spent on promotional leaflets, distribution of these leaflets, toilet facilities, electrical requirements and transport.
- We appointed two new Trustees, bringing the total to six. They are:

## **Independent Examiners Report For the year ended 30 September 2024**
I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 30 September 2024.
## **Respective responsibilities of Trustees and examiner**
The charity trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44 (1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of independent examiner's statement**
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention other than disclosed below
1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: - to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44 (1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of
the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and
- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006
- Accounts Regulations have not been met, or
2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **NOTES TO THE ACCOUNTS**
## **1 Basis of accounting**
These accounts have been prepared on the Receipts and Payments basis in accordance with the Charities & Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended).
## **2 Nature and purpose of funds**
Unrestricted funds are of a general nature and have no conditions attached. Unrestricted funds may be used at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the objects of the charity.
Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for restricted purposes.
The closing balances on the restricted funds is represented by £1,172 from Blackhill Windfarm and £17,180 from Fallago.
## **3 Related party transactions**
During the financial year, (Trustee) paid expenses totalling £1,485 on behalf of the charity. charity. The total liability due to be repaid at the year end was £7,727.
(Trustee) was repaid expenses totalling £5,557 on behalf of the charity. The total liability at the year end was nil (2023: £5,557).
During the year Bughtrig Estate paid expenses totalling £3,918 on behalf of the charity. This balance is included as a liability in the statement of balances (2023: £3,801).
