Elder Voice Trustees Annual Report For the year ended 31[st] March 2022

__________

Structure Governance & Management

Elder Voice was established in July 2018 as a Scottish Charity and governed by its constitution.

During the course of the current financial period Elder Voice applied for SCIO status which has been awarded and following the submission of the current financial year accounts will proceed with the process of winding up the existing charity and transferring its assets.

The management/organisation structure introduced in March 2020 together with staffing improvements demonstrated its capacity for growth and development of its services and expansion to Strathmore & The Glens widening the services available for older people in Eastern Perthshire. The charity has good governance, supported by experienced staff with good vision on the needs of the elderly has made excellent progress.

Objectives & Activities

The charity’s main objectives are to address the inequalities and barriers older people face in relation to services to match their needs in connectedness. The charity is community led by older people and is driven by feedback from its large client base to address solutions to their every day living in rural Perthshire.

The activities are planned, developed and implemented around isolation and loneliness and mental health inequalities and help older people live as independently as long as possible in their own homes.

During the year to March 2022 was a tumultuous time with COVID still playing a part and restricting face to face services but Elder Voice adapted its services and continued to provide the essential services such as Patient Transport (for hospital appointments), shopping service, supplying boost boxes (Malnutrition) and Befriending with a large membership benefiting from these services across the outreach areas and small villages situated in Strathmore. Two large socialising events were a huge success identifying that older people wanted socialising after the long COVID restrictions. The charity worked in collaboration with PKAVS, NHS, Social Care Partnership, Doctors Surgeries, Stronger Communities (P&K), Age Scotland, Community Transport Association, Perth & Kinross Transport, Sheltered Housing and Mental Health Team. Older People are consulted in our services and we undertake surveys due to age related issue such as mobility and lack of social media by our large client base.
