## **For the year ended 31 OCTOBER 2025**
The trustees have pleasure in presenting their report together with the accounts and the independent examiner’s report for the year ended 31 October 2025,
As Chair I want to start by recapping our four goals that we had set at the beginning of the year:
1. Formulate a strategy for UNAS to take forward over the coming years;
2. Strengthen existing partnerships and form new ones with different organisations and UNAs in Scotland and the UK;
3. Form and strengthen connections with the UN through the new UN Engagement Officer role and team; and
4. Nurture partnerships within our branches at UNAS.
As an organisation that wishes to grow, having a strategy is helpful to ensure that we remain true to our purposes and have a direction in mind. Thanks to the strategy working group, this goal has made progress throughout this year and we hope to continue and build on this over the coming years.
To help with this, we published the new UNAS website and welcomed Robin to the team to help with communications both internal and external. I encourage all branches to continue updating their branch page on the website.
We have both maintained and built new partnerships over the year as well through UN House projects and branch initiatives. It is critical that we continue to cherish these partners and find opportunities both to work collaboratively in our efforts to raise awareness of and contribute to the UN Goals.
Furthermore, we formed connections with the UN through the UN Engagement team led by Georgiana. By doing so, we continue to bridge the gap that exists between the general public and the UN.
Finally, we could not be UNAS without the UNAS branches: Aberdeen, Alloa, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Highlands and Islands, St Andrews and Stirling. It is encouraging to see new membership joining branches and making contributions to the different projects and activities of each branch. We are especially grateful for the confident support branches offer to each other and, through the UNHS intern programme, with the next generation of UN Association members.

The Charity is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (a SCIO). It was registered in its current legal form on 16 July 2018 It has a single tier structure and as such the trustees are the members of the charity.

## **Financial Review**
During the year the charity received various grants as shown in the accounts. Some of this had not been sent spent by 31 October 2025 resulting in a balance on restricted funds of £ 29,420 (2024 £ 18,173). There is a surplus on unrestricted funds as at 31 October 2025 of £ 4,426 (2024 deficit £1,115).

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT**
I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 October 2025 set out on pages 4 to 7 _._
## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 . The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10 (1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44 (1) (c) of the Act and to state whether matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of independent examiner’s statement**
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 . An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
## **Independent examiner’s statement**
In the course of my examination, I noted that the unrestricted funds are overdrawn. As noted in the trustees report the trustees have measures in hand to rectify this situation. Otherwise no other matter has come to my attention.
1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
- to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44 (1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations; and
- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
have not been met; or
2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **NOTES TO ACCOUNTS**
## **1. Basis of Accounting**
The accounts have been prepared under the Receipts and Payments basis in accordance with the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended).
## **2. Nature and purpose of funds**
Unrestricted funds are those that may be used at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the objects of the charity. The trustees maintain a single unrestricted fund for the day to day running of the charity.
Restricted funds may only be used for specific purposes. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for a specific purpose.
## **3. Trustees**
4 trustees received any money during the year. Payments consisted of stipends and expenses paid to trustees as reimbursement of payments made on behalf of United Nations Association Scotland
