|Summary|of the|main|achievements|of|| The|Shed|has|consolidated|this|period|as|a|valuable|asset to|the|
|the|charity during|the|financial|period|| community shown|by|public|curiosity|about what goes|on,|regular|
|enquirers|and|by|recommendation|by|health|and|social|services|on|behalf|
|of their|clients.|Needless|to|say,|the|level|of commendation|is|very|high.|
|Membership|has|steadied|at|around|62|which|includes16|new members.|
|Some|members|have|been|removed|from|the|list due|to|non-attendance,|
|but emphasis|is|always made|for them|to|drop|in|at|any|time|to|say|hello.|
|Tragically,|we|have|lost 2|treasured|members|throughout|the|period.|
|The AGM|was|held|in|September|at which|3|Trustees|stepped|down|and|a|
|welcome was|accorded|to|3|new|Trustees|to|help|manage|the|Charity.|A|
|new|Chair was|elected|by|the|new|Committee.|Thanks|are due|to|the|
|retirees,|for|their|efforts|in|steering|the|enterprise|through|the|setup|in|the|
|new|premises|at|St|Leonard’s.|An|Honours|Board|was|made|and|
|displayed|to|mention|those|making|a|major|contribution|towards|the|
|establishment|of the|Shed|at|East|Kilbride|since|it’s|inception|in|2014.|
|Through|the|Community|Asset Transfer|process,|East|Kilbride|Men’s|Shed|
|has|now|been|granted|a|15-year|lease|by|South|Lanarkshire|Council.|Our|
|challenge|from|now|is|to|recover|the|full|cost of|running|the|ex-Community|
|Hall|by|internal|and|external|donations,|grants|and|assistance.|
|Three|open|days|have|been|held|this|year;|the|first|in|the|Summer was|to|
|celebrate|opening|of the|reception|and|display|area|followed|by|Christmas|
|and|Easter|Fayres.|
|Special|thanks|are|due|to|Scottish|Council|for Voluntary|Organisations.|
|SCVO|contacted|us|in|May|to|feature|in|a|promotional|video|for|Men’s|
|Sheds.|It|is|easily|found|onYou-Tube.|
|Infrastructure|developments|this year|include|a|complete|rewiring|of the|
|workshop|area|featuring|emergency|power|switching.|
|Member|training|has|included|PAT|testing,|prostate|awareness,|
|emergency|first|aid|and|defibrillator|awareness.|
|A|member|outing|this|year was|to|the|aircraft museum|at|Dumfries.|The|
|Shed|continues|to|be|a|happy|place|for|all,|regularly|holding|quizzes,|fish|
|and|chip|nights|and|pizza|lunches|for members.|
|As|part|of the|town|community,|we|decided|to|set one|day|apart|each|
|month|to|especially welcome|passing|visitors|to|a|cuppa|and|a|chat and|to|
|see|the|facilities.|Initially|not|a|success,|but|the|idea|was|sound|and|could|
|be|continued|at|any|time.|
|Many requests|to|repair or make things|are received|providing|a|regular|
|income|from|public|donations|for these|services|and|products.|The|
|Shed’s|existence|is|heavily|dependent|upon|the|willingness|and|ability|of|
|members|to|take|on|these|projects.|Accordingly,|the|Trustees|particularly|
|thank those members who|contribute|in|this way|
