Foreword from the Chair

I am pleased to present our Annual Report for 2024-2025, evidence of the continued dedication and hard work of our entire voluntary team and the continued generosity and support of our community.

This past year has been one of achievements and challenges, addressing funding hurdles to ensure we continue to have the resources to continue our vital work and the social pressures of increased demand for our services. I am proud of how our organisation has responded, demonstrating resilience and a dedicated commitment to our Organisation’s core values of supporting families, alleviating poverty, and promoting dignity.

Funding

We are fortunate in that we continue to enjoy a period of relative stability, with funding for rent on our current premises until January 2027, unrestricted funding from The Bank of Scotland for one more year, and funding for pyjamas, bedding, pants, socks & tights, and other clothing. Earlier this year we secured funding from Cash for Kids for teenage clothing and funding from Henderson Loggie for shoes. All figures can be found in our financial report

Governance

Throughout 2024 -25, and in alignment with our strategic plan (2024-27) the Board has been re-visiting Togs’ Governance, ensuring we remain compliant with relevant legislation, and ensuring Togs’ activities are in alignment with our core values and the requirements of OSCR (Scottish Charity Regulator). The Board has created several policies and procedure documents, available for Volunteers to view in a folder.

Volunteer events

Early in 2025 we held a volunteer get together in the form of an afternoon tea. This was well received by those who attended.

10[th] Anniversary

Sinc e Togs was established in 2015, Togs has g own and evolved into what it is today. r To celebrate this 10-year milestone, we are hosting a Family fun day for the local families we support, who are living with the pressures of poverty. The Board felt it was an important opportunity to acknowledge the people involved in Togs, to engage with ur stakeholders, to thank the volunteers, o ors, partners, and community for their don utions and continued support.

Family Day

In November 2025 Togs hosted a Family Fun Day for some of the families we support, to celebrate our 10" anniversary. Attendance at the event was by invite only. Some of our Referral Partners were happy to contact their client families to convey the invite.

Activities on the day included, a bouncy castle with disco, inflatable games, soft play, gaming opportunities for older children, dressing up and arts & crafts.

A great day was had by all, and it was heartwarming to see so many families having a really good time, with many a Disney princess or super- hero running about. In keeping with privacy and GDPR regulations, we do not wish publish photographs of any of the families who attended.

Collaboration with local charities

We continue to build on our relationships with other local charities. In recent months we have received donations from Dundee Bairns, Help for Kids and other baby Banks who have items that they cannot use, but pass on to us, thus increasing awareness and support between organisations.

Engagement with local Buisnesses

We continue to enjoy support from local buisnesses. The van supplied by Dundee Ford Centre has proved to be useful when it comes to buying in bulk. Local Supermarkets also provide support through their Community Champions who act as a point of contact and can offer advise when we apply for financial support. They also engage with customers about what the store can offer to help our charity and we often receive support in this way from Sainsbury, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, & Co-Op.

BOS Mentoring Programme

During 2025, as a charity in receipt of a Bank of Scotland Foundation Energise Grant, we were offered additional strategic support through their Charity Mentoring Programme. This provided us the opportunity to be paired with a Scotland-based mentor who offers individualised business support tailored to our specific needs and who also serves as a valuable sounding board for ideas. Their experience will prove invaluable to our Organisation.

In June 2025, again as recipients of a Bank of Scotland Foundation Energise Grant, we were invited to, and the Chair had the opportunity to attend, the Annual Reception at Lloyds Banking Group Head Office in Edinburgh. This was an opportunity to meet their Board of Trustees and to celebrate the positive impact that the Foundation’s grant funding has had on Scottish charities and the work they do.

Strategic Plan

During the year, the Board has been concentrating specifically on Governance issues. However, there are a number of other points on the strategic plan where some progress has been made, namely : planning of Board meetings in advance, information pack for new Trustees, document control, identification of the Volunteer Liaison, allocated roles for volunteers, staff ID badges, publicity/ recognition – numbers continue to grow on social media, and Tog’s birthday celebration, planning is well underway for the Family day. We also have a list of other charity partners and agencies who Togs collaborates with. It is the intention of the Board to consult with our Mentor, following on from the AGM in September, in considering the Strategic plan going forward.

Recruitment

Togs, like so many charities in Scotland is facing a volunteer recruitment crisis. Fewer people are coming forward to volunteer and so many more now have less time to volunteer. Despite this we strive to continue with our recruitment campaign and currently we have Volunteer and Trustee opportunities advertised through our local Third Sector interface, Dundee Volunteer & Voluntary Action (DVVA), Volunteer Scotland and on our social media. This has resulted in several people getting in touch to enquire about volunteering and some have confirmed that they would like to volunteer with us.

Corporate Volunteers and Students

We continue to host Corporate Volunteers, from local companies on a regular basis as well as Undergraduate and Postgraduate students. This past year we have hosted fifty students. As well as being beneficial to the volunteers themselves this proves extremely helpful for us, particularly when there are enormous amounts of donations to sort through and when stock needs to be rotated at the end of each season.

Figures

Number of referrals

Number of children

The number of referrals January to August 2024 and the same period in 2025 were in the range of between 60 to 100 referrals per month and the numbers of children supported, between 89 to 153.This is indicative of the level of child poverty in our local area and the need for our continued support for families struggling with the cost of living.

Sustainability

As an organisation we continue to be conscious of our environmental impact. We strive to ensure that most of the items donated to us from local families and other organisations are used to fulfil referrals. Referrals are packed in recycled bags. Items that are unsuitable for our use are passed on to other local charities for example, Guide dogs for the Blind (blankets and soft toys)No Boots No More(football boots and strips) Bernardos(baby equipment we can’t pass on) and we sell unusable clothing to a clothes recycling company.

consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks
explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken
do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do
not express an audit opinion on the viewgiven bythe accounts.
