## **Trustees’ Report**
The Trustees have pleasure in submitting their annual report and financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2024.
## **Structure, Governance and Management**
## **Constitution**
The charity is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (a SCIO). It was previously an unincorporated association but changed its legal form and was granted charitable status by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) on 29 March 2018. The assets of the unincorporated association were transferred to the SCIO on this date. These financial statements set out the results of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2024
## **Appointment of Trustees**
The charity has a single tier structure and as such the trustees are also the members of the charity. The day-to-day administration of the charity is conducted by a voluntary management committee. Membership of the committee is open to all parents at Forthview Primary and any person who wishes to become a member must sign a written application for membership; the application will then be considered by the board at its next board meeting. Trustees are elected at the annual general meeting held in the last quarter of each year. There must be a minimum of 5 trustees and a maximum of 20 trustees.
## **Objectives and Activities**
## **Charitable Objectives**
The charity was created to relieve poverty within the Forthview community and to provide recreational activities to improve conditions for life of the Forthview community.
## **Activities**
In order to relieve poverty within the Forthview community, the charity has set up different groups to look at topics such as budgeting, healthy eating, financial advice, uniform and book swaps. It provides an opportunity fund, open to all school pupils, which provides funding towards children’s residential camps, school trips, fuel bills and other emergency requirements. The charity also organises recreational activities, allowing parents and children to attend events in a safe, friendly and familiar environment.
On an annual basis we will have a variety of activities: Summer fair, Christmas fair, Christmas parties, movie nights, family fun nights, and a Ceilidh. We have made these events into a warm space event to help our families with fuel poverty.

Throughout the year we have received dorbations from charities, friends and supporters. This has been
used to purchase food. clothin& toys and essentials for families Imng in poverty. We have also
purchased furniture and resources forour new Nurture Room. We are continuin8wrth tO8ether time
and provfide breakfast for every ¢hikl In the school. We still oryanise Halloween partles,. however they
are in the individual classrooms. As an organisation we purchase extra treats for the children. We still
provlde Chrlstmas Parties forthe children In the evening. We also donated money 50 that the school
could provlde a panto for the thlldren.
We also help parents wlth Ir opportunltbes fund Ihardshlp moneyl. Thls Is 8l¥en to parents who are
In dlre need: If they have no food and cannot attend the food bank again durlng the month. rf they
have no elertriuty or gas. if children require beds. washing machines. winter coats, ¢lothes for camp,

## **Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Friends of Forthview**
I report on the financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2024 set out on pages 5 to 7.
## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and independent examiner**
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (a) to (c) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of independent examiner’s statement**
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
## **Independent examiner’s statement**
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
- to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations;
- and to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 8 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations;
have not been met; or
2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the financial statements to be reached.

## **Notes to the Financial Statements**
## 1. **Basis of accounting**
These financial statements have been prepared on the receipts and payments basis in accordance with the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended).
## 2. **Nature and purpose of funds**
Unrestricted funds are those that may be used at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the objects of the charity. The trustees maintain a single unrestricted fund for the day-to-day running of the charity.
Restricted funds may only be used for restricted purposes as specified by the donor. No receipts or payments were restricted during the current period.

## 4. **Trustees’ remuneration and expenses**
No trustees received any remuneration or reimbursement of expenses during the period.
