## Activities

**Activities:** 'It carries out activities or services itself'

**Purposes:** 'the advancement of education','the advancement of health','the advancement of citizenship or community development','the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage'

**What the charity does:** Ewen’s Room is a grassroots mental health and suicide prevention charity based in Lochaber and serving the West Highlands. We are dedicated to promoting wellbeing, reducing stigma around mental illness, and providing easily accessible support across the area, particularly for children, young people and their carers. Through services such as community drop-in sessions (Open Doors), creative Workshops for Wellbeing, youth groups, free counselling (for young people up to 25), and outreach in local schools, we aim to build resilience, prevent suicide, support mental health recovery, and foster community connections. Ewen’s Room’s activities are delivered by paid staff and session workers and our work is rooted in lived experience, compassionate support, inclusivity and community-led care. We strive to reach isolated, rural communities, young people and families who may otherwise have limited access to mental-health services.

**Objectives:** The organisation's aims are: To offer support to people resident in Lochaber and the adjacent Western Highlands and Islands, who are experiencing difficulty as a result of mental health issues. To raise awareness of mental health issues and counter the associated stigmas within the local community, particularly the young. To identify local gaps in support provision in liaison with established NHS and voluntary mental health groups and service users. And its charitable purposes are: The advancement of health. The advancement of citizenship or community development (including rural or urban regeneration). The relief of those in need. The advancement of education.
