Organisation (SCIO).
The structure of the organisation consists of:
The Members – who have the right to attend members’ meetings
The Board – who hold regular meetings and generally control
the activities of the organisation.|

accompanied the incorporation of the organisation were deemed as
charity trustees with effect from the date of incorporation of the
organisation.
At each AGM the members may elect any member to serve as a charity
trustee for a term of three years, the charity trustees elect the office

Reduce isolation of members in the area thus contributing to
their physical and mental wellbeing.
Developing the capacity of members in the area to share skills
and knowledge with others in the community.|

## **Achievements and performance**
|**Summary of the main achievements of**
**the charity during the financial period**|The Men’s Shed has continued to assist local voluntary groups wherever
possible. This has included the construction of ten Pine Marten nest boxes
to a standard design and remedial work on outside play materials for a
local children’s nursery. In addition other smaller projects have been
supported and assistance offered to members of the public to repair
various items. Members have also been involved in the construction of
their own personal projects
The number of members attending each session is back to the levels
before lockdown. Currently an average of 15-20 members attends each
session.
Wood turning is increasingly popular amongst members and three lathes
are now in regular use to produce bowls and pens. A variety of other wood
working projects are underway as members have continued to expand their
skills.
The 3d printers have continued to be used to good effect. A number of the
members use these machines to complete projects and produce
components to repair items. CAD skills are used to model 3d objects and
subsequently use the printers to create the objects.
Railway modelling continues to be an active interest of some members
although much of the interest has concentrated on the assembly of rolling
stock and engines.
Some limited interest in electronic construction continues to be supported
and stained glass work is now being tried.
The shed is open on three days each week.
Fortnightly Zoom calls have been maintained over the past year to allow
those who are still uncomfortable meeting face to face, or those who are
unable to access the shed to remain in touch.
Membership has continued to grow throughout the year and the local
community is interested in the progress of the shed.
The future of our existing premises is limited so we have sought to obtain
an alternative site. The Hay Lodge Depot, premises owned by Peebles
Common Good Fund, would provide a suitable alternative. After extensive
campaigning and public consultation it was finally agreed on 25thAugust
2024 that we could rent these at an initial cost of £10 per week with an
initial lease period of ten years. This is dependent on us obtaining
Planning Permission for a change of use. It was recognised that the
premises would need considerable work to ensure that it was fit for our
use and extensive work has been undertaken to seek the relevant
planning permissions. The lease has still to be agreed.|

## **Other optional information**
In early June 2025, Borders Council have identified a potential structural issue with the joists supporting the ceiling of one of the key areas of the Hay Lodge Depot and have consequently suggested that an area on the upper floor will be excluded from the lease. This raises serious concerns for us and will need to be resolved before we can agree to progress with the uptake of these premises. Work to resolve these challenges continues. In the interim period we will continue to operate from the Peebles Community Hub.

||The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance
with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the
Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the
audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It
is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the
Act and to state whetherparticular matters have come to myattention.||
||My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities
Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the
accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with
those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the
accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The
procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit
and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.||
