Our aim is to make the club as attractive and affordable with options for all to take part in the sport with a view to improving their health and wellbeing and general conditions of life. ## **Structure, governance and management** Our club is governed by our Constitution ## **Achievements and performance** Achievements and performance In the period to 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, we have increased participation in this sport by increasing our membership to 186 and 80 regular non-member players. We have done this by expanding our range of affordable lifestyle memberships, offering 13 different memberships that allow people to play at times that suit them and their family/work commitments. We have kept our membership fees the same for 3 years running We increased the age criteria for a ‘junior’ to 18 to allow all children of members under 18 play for free. We have done this in recognition that many young people are remaining on in school and staying at home due to the affordability of independent housing and the unemployment levels for young people. Offering the ability to ‘pay-as-you-play’ has resulted in significant upturn in court bookings by casual players further expanding the exposure of the game. We increased our full time student numbers by offering a heavily discounted membership as well as **3** offering couple and family memberships to help reduce costs per household, We offer free tasters to all those in the local community in Ayrshire and this involves volunteers booking and arranging games with new players interested in having a go and showcasing the sport. We have organised tasters for over 90 players within the year. Free loan padels and balls mean that people new to the sport don’t have to spend money on equipment at this stage. We work very hard to support solo players get games with others and help to integrate into the club quickly. Our volunteer members provide free ‘supported play’ opportunities for beginner/improver level players who can benefit from the more experienced players. We continue to with KA Leisure a local authority run organisation to help collect and donate sports clothing in collaboration. This goes some way to help reduce the financial barrier to participate in the sport by providing appropriate kit including footwear. We attended with a promotional stall to a Health and Wellbeing event hosted by the Health and Social Care Partnership in North Ayrshire to raise the profile of the game to non-traditional players We have delivered 9 graded LTA padel tournaments from county to national level. We offer our members a reduction in the entry fee to try to encourage participation at tournament level. We have been commended by the LTA for our volunteer development of a live streaming process which allowed people from all over the world to view the game on our YouTube channel. We also enjoyed a growing number of spectators where we had free tea and coffee and who came along throughout our tournaments to watch the action in their locality. To help to increase ladies participation in the game, we ran a series of nonmember mornings where padels and balls and refreshments were included. Volunteers organised and assisted at the events that ran for 4 weeks and saw 16 ladies participate and 5 ladies join the club as members In the same vein we offered men only events that ran for 4 weeks and saw 11 new people take part, converting to members The West of Scotland Padel Coaching Program has grown in 2024-25 with a focus on sports development, aimed at engaging youth through a multifaceted approach. Our offer includes a programme of initiatives for schools, collaboration with the SSF Chance2B initiative, and the successful delivery of our Junior 6-Week programmes that ran every Friday from 4pm-6pm ## **School Initiatives:** The program's aim was to introduce padel in schools in the local area, as an accessible and enjoyable activity for young students. By partnering with local **4** schools, the program seeks to foster a love for the sport, promote physical activity, and impart essential life skills such as teamwork and discipline. Coaching sessions were designed to cater to various age groups, ensuring that the curriculum aligns with the students' skill levels and interests. The coaching staff, comprised of certified instructors and volunteer member delivering innovative teaching methods to make padel accessible and fun for everyone. Moreover, the program emphasizes inclusivity, encouraging students of all abilities to participate. This inclusivity extends to gender, ensuring that both boys and girls have equal opportunities to engage in the sport. By integrating padel into the school curriculum, the WoSP Coaching Program contributes to a holistic approach to education that combines physical and mental development. ## **SSF Chance2B Collaboration:** The partnership with the SSF (Scottish Sports Futures) Chance2B initiative underscores the program's commitment to social inclusion and community development. SSF Chance2B focuses on using sport as a tool to engage young people, promoting positive lifestyle choices and providing opportunities for personal growth. Through collaboration with SSF Chance2B, the WoSP Coaching Program extends its reach to underserved communities. Free taster sessions, workshops, and access to coaching are provided to children who may not otherwise have the chance to experience organized sports. This collaboration aligns with the broader societal goals of promoting health, well-being, and social cohesion. ## **Junior 6-Week Program:** The Junior 6-Week Programs, was conducted as dated above with two age groups 5-10 & 11-17 and goes beyond mere introduction to padel but also offering more in depth technical skills, tactical understanding, and physical conditioning. Fifty five youngsters took part in the 6 week programmes All coaching for juniors is delivered free and with the addition of free loan padels and balls. The main aim being to make the sport as inclusive as possible despite the financial burden ## **Financial review** ## Statement of the charity’s policy on reserves The club will retain where possible, sufficient funds to operate for ¾ of a year plus a sinking fund for replacement of court facilities not exceeding the value of £35,000. **5** Details of any deficit ## N/A ## Donated facilities and services ## N/A ## **Future plans** In the coming year, we will continue to develop further our relationship with the local community and schools. As a club run solely by volunteers, we are confident that we are delivering the best service in the area. We will continue our efforts to deliver a structured programme of junior coaching for 5-16 year olds and host more Open Days for women only to try to increase participation as we are significantly under-represented from that group. We will continue with the Padel and Cake for ladies and Padel and Pizza equivalent for men only and will reach out to local men only community groups such as Fit Ayrshire Dads We will continue to research funding streams to support the delivery of free daytime court use and coach time to schools and help with transport costs to bring young people and children to the club which proves to be a persistent difficulty for schools. **6** ## **Declaration** The Trustees declare that they have approved the contents of the report above.
