AdvLW Shetland is govemed by a constitution adopted on 6th March
20￿. wh￿h was affended and ratified in August 2009, and again in
August 2011 to further ¢L8rify the same objectNe and wlicies.
The Constitution was amended again on March 2018 to refiect the
changes to becoming a SCIO.
Trustee recrullmont and appolnlment Trustees are r￿lted at the Annual General Meeting and shall consist
of no ff￿re than nine [r￿MberS and shall rr￿et no fewer than six times a
year. Tmslees may serve no kjnger than three years with one third of the
trustees retiring in rotation year. Trustees are eligible immediately
for re-e*tion.
Should Trustee membership Pdll below nine, then any person can be co-
opted onto the committee.

ProvK1e independent advocacies for all who require the
service with an emphasis on provision for those who may be
exposed to a greater likelihood of disadvantage through a lesser
abiltty to represent themselves.
Promote the work of the organisation,. and in so doing to act in

Achievements and performance
Summary of tho main achlevements
of the Gharlty durfng the finan¢lal
period
For the seventh year in a row Advwy Shetland has continued to
reach its target of roughly 100 clients set by the Commissioners.
have also been able to maintain a go¢JJ level of case dosures,
with similar numbers to the p￿VIOuS years. A major faGtor in the
maintenance of case ¢losure rates has been the recruitment of new
staff. This shows that cases are moving to an effective conclusion
quicker, although some rn0￿ CoMp￿X case$ will of course tske
kinger to end.
Advocacy Shetsnd had ts contract continued for 202112022 by the
Commissroners. maintaining the same level of funding as last year.
It should be noted that other third sector services were not so
fortunate. having ujts or having their wntracts terminated.
Referrals are sb"Il coming in from other seNices and our workk>ad is
in¢reasingty varied with the issues being presented. Our aim is to
maintain a good level of Serv￿ delivery.
We have been. with the help of the commiss*)ners and others,
trimming our running costs to keep within our core funding.
