Objectives and activities
Charitable purposes
The organisation's purposes are..
1 To advance the science of helminth parasitology and the treatment of
the diseases caused by helminth parasites, by promoting international
collaboration and dissemination of information.
2 To advance scientific research into helminth parasitology by convening
conferences, promoting interaction and information exchange beeen
academics, medical professionals and students from different countries
of the world. and enabling participation of young scientists from lower-
income countries endemic for parasitic diseases
3 To act as a catalyst to advance public understanding and education in
helminth parasitology through publications from conferences and provision
of on-line resources for students, the media and the general public
Summary of the main activities
in relation to these objects
Our principal activity has been the organisation of a Helminth Conference,
as detailed in the Appendix.
APPENDIX 1
Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of
the charity during the financial period
The Charity successfully organised the annual Helminth Conference from
1-6 September 2024. The Conference was attended by nearly 100
researchers from the UK, Europe (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany,
Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Switzerland), Africa
(Cameroon, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Uganda), Asia and Australasia
(Australia, Bangladesh, China and Israel), and the Americas (Canada,
Uruguay and the USA), with a preponderance of younger scientists and
students entering the field. Five delegates (from Cameroon, Ethiopia, India
and Nigeria) were awarded travel bursaries to allow them to participate in
the Conference. The advances in helminth parasitology were presented
and discussed, in furtherance of the Charity's aims. The Conference
included ample provision for neOrkIng beeen researchers from
different parts of the globe, underpinning new scientific collaborations and
enabling partnerships belmeen experts from drfferent countries.
