These rides improve the mental and physical wellbeing of people, mainly the elderly, who face mobility challenges and/or loneliness. CWAS delivers c.32,000 rides annually, enriching the lives of at least 45,000 passengers each year and of c.1,200 volunteers who are enjoying high level fulfilment in a unique way. We help volunteers to reach their potential through specialised training and employability and life skills e.g. leadership, empathy and self-confidence. Our ever-growing volunteer base includes Pilots, Co-Pilots, Co-Passengers, and administrators, across generations from teens to 80s. CWAS started with 5 Trishaws in 1 branch/Chapter in Falkirk. We now operate 150 Trishaws and 7 Wheelchair Transporters in 96 Chapters in almost every part of Scotland.
