Trustees Annual Report

Sept 2023 – August 2024

What we do.

We invite people to experience the kindness of God. To do this, we produce resources for people to experience it, strategies for churches to share it and advertising for people to see it.

For the last 14 years trypraying has grown from a simple idea and resource to a movement across towns, cities and even nations. It is a personal evangelism resource, a project for a church and a strategy for reaching cities. The clear goal is to invite people into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ as explained in the core literature piece, the trypraying seven-day prayer guide. It’s a resource that has a connection to millions of people who may, on occasion, be inclined to pray.

Summary.

This was the year when we passed a significant milestone. All the different trypraying booklets (youth, adult, childrens, prisoners and different language editions) put together have now exceeded a total of over 1 million copies printed. Plans are underway for a celebration in October 2025.

Stories.

Booklet story

Hi there, , from Worcestershire. I saw the try praying information through my local Baptist church, and gave it a go. It changed my life. I went on to do an Alpha course, and now call myself a Christian. I talk to “him upstairs” every day, and am grateful for his love and never ending support. Thankyou for this. It started the journey that has changed my life forever.

Bus story .

had who had been resistant to the Christian message while she grew up in a church. Now as an adult she wanted to get the issue sorted. On morning she prayed and asked God, ‘I need to know if you are real. Send me a sign.’ She was going somewhere in the car and was on Dunbarton Road in Glasgow when she saw an advert on the back of a bus which said ‘trypraying.’ It was so simple and straightforward. When she saw that she knew she needed to do that. She couldn’t get the advert out of her head. When she got home that night she committed her life to Christ. She felt washed all the way through her body. ‘I wouldn’t have got to that point if it had not been for the bus advert!’

Banner story

was driving away from a doctor's appointment and was in a desperate state. She was crying as she drove. Something said to ‘Look left’. She looked left and saw a trypraying banner on a church. It was that which took her and her whole family back to faith and church.

Social media

We have been delighted with the relationship with HopeFuelled. They have provided graphics design for our materials and also advertising. They have been our social media agency and have been posting high-quality messages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Operations

Financially we have been able to function with our core costs being met from sales and donations from Trusts, especially when printing materials.

Again, it has been a remarkable journey to discover funding for an advertising campaign which was across all Scotland. This came from a plethora of individual gifts and a few trusts.

Our fulfilment has been taken over by Yeomans in Kent. They have brought efficiency and competence to our fulfilment of orders from around the UK although costs have risen and this needs to be evaluated.
