Projects which are carried out PPCDT’s main legacy project has been the refurbishment of the former Pinwherry Primary School into a fit for purpose community facility – The Auld School Community Centre – which is now open! Other projects the PPCDT has carried out, or developing are: Installing 6 Community Notice Boards – these display local scenic information and community events. Installing play park equipment, picnic benches, a MUGA and outdoor fitness equipment on Pinmore Green Enhancing the Pinwherry Field – installation of picnic benches, accessible paths, trees and cabins which are being fitted out as toilets and storage. Community growing space on Pinwherry Field with polytunnel, pergola and raised beds. New play park, MUGA, adult fitness equipment and picnic benches on Pinmore Green, in development. Enhancing Community Lay-bys, flower tubs and community notice boards.

Objectives: The SCIO will operate as a charitable organisation and its purposes are: 1. To advance community development and rural regeneration by: 1.1 supporting local people to identify and articulate their needs and act to address those needs. 1.2. Providing, maintaining and managing facilities which can be used for recreational, heritage and cultural pursuits in order to improve the wellbeing of the community of Pinwherry and Pinmore and visitors to the area. 1.3 Providing, maintaining and managing facilities which can be used by community groups to assist the advancement of community development. 1.4 Providing such facilities through the acquisition of the former school site and developing and maintaining the site to provide accommodation and amenities for visitors to the area. 2. To advance education by helping people to experience and appreciate the local area, the environment, natural heritage and places of historic and cultural interest, and through the promotion of their health, recreation and education, particularly by providing low cost accommodation for them on their travels to the area. 3. The provision of recreational activities through the promotion and organisation of community activities and encouraging the use and development for the benefit of the residents of the community and the wider public.
