ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE IN 2025:
In the first full year ot operation. the new solar panel I battery System generated total
power equiv81ent to 94% of our metered electricrty consumption. Our annual electricity
charges were 63% lowerthan the previous reporting year.
We have been very busy across the varlous 8Ctivty groups. which include machinery
maintenance & repair. V￿￿dW0fklng. y￿00tum1ng. music. gardening. photography and
most recently L8ser engraving and ITI website upgr8des.
Woodworking actNty for the communrty- repairs and refinishing as well as making naw
items - has continued and has brought in modest l)ut ste8dy revenue to defray the
operating costs of the Shed.
Several Ioc81 schools hwe benefitted from our help Y￿e of charge:
o A mobile library cabinet for Culter Primary Sch￿(
o A mud kitchen for each ol Culter Primary and Cults Primary Schools

Extensive repair and rebuild of an outside equipment shed for Milltimber Primary
School {purchased ty the PTA and inttially erected by parent volunteers) v4hich
was demolished by a wtnter storm just a few￿kS later.
As a'labour of love., work is in hand on an Aberdeen-brended but heavily corroded
antique cast iron mangie to convert rt into a manu81 printing press. Design and
fabrication of new steel rollers and a new print plarform is progressing well and it is
hoped the project will be complete by mid-2026. A buyer is already watting for it.
We purchased 8 new18ser engraving machine. which has generated a lot of member
Interest. Therè is much to leam. We hope to use itto make vaiious items for Sale. such
as coasters. table mats and hopefully house name plates.
Attendance at the Saturday car boot sale at BA Stores {near Lyne of Skenel wlth a trailer
load of Surplus items yielded a worthwhile cash boost to Shed funds.
We had a total of 69 Registered Members at year end with a steady average ot 35 to 45
'working' Shed attendances per v4eek across the drfferent 8CtFvities. Some members
attend two or more times each week. We plan to increase membership 89 and when we
have the space and facilities.
Although our'socl81' 8108 13 currently adequate. the existing main workshop area within
the Shed is knmited to 6 men v￿rknng 8t any one time. Furthermore the limited
loadbearing capacity of the suspended floor means that we can install only
woodworkin8 machines. We are unable to have ary engineering machines.
Given these significant constraints in terms of space and floor108ding capaclty. we plan
to expand ty replacing the old 40ft vL)rkshop I storage container with a new steel-
framed Workshop Annex properly founded on a concrete $18b. We obtaln8d planning
permission for this ty September 2025 and at year end it was expected that the Building
Warrant should be obtained ty March 2026. We shall be 8pplyln8 for fundingthereaftèr.
Hov￿Ver to approach potential funding bodies we need Iwo quotations tor each major
phase of the work. It is proving difficult to obtain these on a timely b8$is- surtable
contr8Ctors are busy- but W￿ sh811 persevere until we succeed.
Totsl cost of Ihe Workshop Annex Project will be approximately £50.000.
