The charity Is constituted as a Scotlish Charitable Incorporated Organisaiion ISCIOI. The charity 15 Boverned by
its artlcles of as50Clation with daily marnagement overseen by the hall rnanagement committee.
Mernbèrsnrusrees arè elerted at each Annual General Meeting to serve for one year and on be re-elerted to
serve in subsequent years.
Objectlves and activitles
The hall is managed io maintain a valuable communlty facillty for all members of the cornmurtity in and around
Marybank, Fairbuin. Muirton, Moy, Arcan, Auttgowrie and Orrin5ide regardless of age, gender or religlous
belief. to further theii education, hèalth and TecTeattonal needs. and to enhafite the quality Df life throughout
the local area.
The hall provides amenitles for old and youn& act4ve and lÈss actlve, in group activities or Private fundions
such as funerals and weddings. It is also available for local fund raising activities lor the hall itself or for the
support of local people.
er the past year Fairburn Memori?1 Hall has been run in line with the Constitution for Ihe beneftt of thè
¢ommunity in Marybank. Fairburn, Muirton. Moy, Arcan. Aultgowrie and Orrinside. and the 5urroundln8 areas.
The hall board meets regtslarly, m05t months and the minutes of those meetiny are available for everyone to
read on request.

Getting involved as a member or 3 charity IrusiÈe is a great way to put your professional ski115 to use,
to support your local community. It can also be a 8reat way to meet people and can also be a great
way io learn and develop new Skills. The AGM FS open to all rnembers of the ￿￿rn￿nItY.
Volunteers can a150 come from outside ihe catchment area. In line with the constr(utton the
committee may at any time appoint a non-member of the organisation to be a charity trustee OA the
basis that helshe has specialist experience andlor skills which could be of assistarKe to the board.

Following the free support from ￿sinesS Energy ScotlaThJ tu help with reduciryenergy usage al the
hall. the report reaffimied what was suspected that ihe he3tin8 systern 15 no longer workin8 and will
need to bè replaced. A heatinE sub-committee was set up, and much thank5 and appreciation to
Anne 8rilfett who has taken a lead on this project, supported by the vice-chair and the hall
¢ommitteÈ. One of the funding st￿3￿5 applied for wa5 conditional on another that was rerykoved, so
ch3n8e5 to the approach have been needed. The extsting sysieffl is goTrng to be tesied that upgrades
will make a differencè, plus insulation 15 golng to be added this winter. This Pfojeci is on8oinR and
welcomes volunteers to help delFver thls trltlcal project..

Thanks to Marda for leading on the Strathconon Cycle Ride. unfortunately it was cancelled this year
due to the weather. Voluntèers to help run It going forward being asked.
Thanks to Secretary Tere5a for leading on the retum of the Marybank Chrisima5 Fair on l December
2024. The hall WHI again be open for the community toiotn togethei on ihe &￿￿1￿ of the l ot
January16-IOpml.
Thank you to people in the community who have h￿ped out at events, used the tsFI. Particularty
David artd Evie who have both taken on tasks to help wlth the running of the hall and reduce
expenditure.
The Treasurer. supported by the thalr, has èlso taken on the main bookin8 aCtivitr"es, indudin8
commvniotions with thè bookers. Currently the fole profiles Ilo not renect this. A review of the
Toles shoLSld be vndertakert with the new committee.
BoDklngs
The h311 continue5 to enjoy active use, wlth an increase in party bookin85 and sever31 p)p up woikshop Classes
this year. The main hall is in use most evenings dur¢n8 the week. Various local 8roups are regulady uslnB the
hall. Bowlin& Badminton, Gln8er Yo6a. Scottish Country Danclw Hielan Toe. The outrèach post office
continues its servite on Tuesday afternoons. space is available on some days and the commttnity room Could
with a14ttle TLC be attractive for use more.

Gaining forecast of energy costs and use. Heatin8 sub-committee is doing ane¥cellent job to
keep adapting to challenges faced In changing fundlng streams, lack of ￿sponse frorn suppliers and
time constraints.
Administrat#)n and runnin8 of the hall. Entertainment licence. keysafe and ccrv installed.
The or8anisatlon of a Christmas Fair fundraiser, purchase ol new Christmas decorations and lights.

Thank you to our sell-employed conlr3ttors. Cleaner, Neitle and caretaker. Conrad for their Servi￿ to ensure
the hall run5 smoothly and Is clean for our users.
Thanks to David Smiih for the grass cutting at the hall and for arrangin8 a Christmas tree. Thanks to Evie J8ck
for or8anislng the purchase of new Christmas decorations and Ilghts.
Board or Trustee membership
Numbers contbnue to decline. The board continues to atthvely seek new members with skills that can
strengthen the board and take on key role5, as well as ihose that can help deliver ideas and 5UPPOrt the team.
The ¢uirent team continues to work well together, to continue the running of the hall.
Gra1￿ and fvndlng
The hall received a further grant from the Lo¢hltsichart Wind Fam Cornmunity Fund to be used to suppt)rt the
local community.
The tommittee aske(l EDF Renewables Colliemoille Community Fund if it could repurpose the underspend of
the 2023 grant it had received for running community focus for lo¢al children and adults. It was agreed that
the £1.720 could be repurposed, thou8h it has not been spent yet and may need to be relufned.
Issues and ¢hallenges
The numbe¥ of Trustees and board members has been steadily declTrnin8 over several years. This contlnves to
put a huge pre55ure on individuals volunteering and is unsustainable.
The costs a$50ciated with running the hall coniinue has steadied. The cost of ener8y is in the maln being used
as expected.
Ftnanclal Revtew
The income of the hall remains healthv.
Reserves remain healthy and their use is subjett to their condlttons of use and diglbility.
'At the time of the AGM Ihe 23124 accounts an independent audit has not been completed. Wè are expecting
it in the comin8 weeks. Audited accounts will be submitted by the OSCR deadline of 31 Juty. Any additional
syb5tantive information will be shared at a board meetin& open to all to read, and addedas a post-rneeting
note to the AGM minutes.
Priorities lor 2025
People l Attractlng volunteèrs to the Boaid to at minimum remain quotate. Review of rolei and
tasks. Continue to update the haftdbook and vser guide to help with hand-over5 and sharing
volunteering tasks. Look at digital and cyber seojrity needs as well as records file mana8ement.
Heating and energy usa8e I Continue to progress the project to completion.
