It previously operated as an unincorporated association but changed its legal form to SCIO. All the assets of the unincorporated association were transferred to the SCIO on the 10° November 2017. The charity has a single-tier structure, and as such, the trustees are members of the charity.

Trustees of the charity are elected at the annual general meeting, which is held between April and June. The charity must have a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 trustees.
Objectives and activities
Charitable purposes
Charitable purposes The charity's purpose is the advancement of health in Scotland for people suffering from Sickle Cell anaemia and other blood disorders by bringing sufferers of Sickle-Cell anaemia, as well as those with other blood disorders, and their families together in order to eradicate isolation, social stigma and prejudice. Summary of the main activities The charity has held peer support meetings, workshops and training for its in relation to these objects members as well as recreation activities for the children and their families. The charity has organised an awareness day this year to educate healthcare workers and members of the public. The charity has found it difficult this year to raise funds to support the newly raised needs of its members and the running of the organisation. The Charity has moved address twice this year, making it difficult to settle and rather had its AGM in June. The charity has organised a summer day out for the families, and it has also run music programs, a podcast and youth outdoor activities. The traditional family winter fest has brought the community together.
2 APPENDIX 1 Achievements and performance Summary of the main achievements of The charity has managed to increase the number of its members by the charity during the financial period another 10% this year. Our work with The Scottish Paediatric & Adult Haemoglobinopathies Network (SPAH) is looking to change the triage system in the hospitals. The ambulance service protocol for people with Sickle-cell anaemia has changed, as well as the acute reception in The Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, for people with Sickle-cell disease. The education program has brought the community to understand more about the disease and reduce stigmatising behaviour. We worked with the Black medical students in Edinburgh to raise more awareness and stimulate research on Sickle-Cell Disease. We are now working closely with some mainstream services for the betterment of the lives of people with Sicklecell anaemia Disease. This year, we were also involved with the NHS to promote blood group Genotyping in Scotland. We were also involved in consultation about the new gene therapy treatment. Our work has built resilience and self-confidence in people and changed the lives of many families for the better; support is more accessible, and mainstream services are beginning to understand the needs of people with Sickle-cell Disease.
