The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science. • To advance, citizenship and community development through the delivery of a significant cultural programme, that encompasses a strong, creative learning strategy. • To maximise the involvement of a diverse audience through their participation in the development of a new public space, in front of the Abbey and a heritage tyrail through Arbroath High Street, en route to the harbour, once called Golden Mile. • To advance heritage and culture by building upon the 700th year of the ‘signing’ of the Declaration of Arbroath. • To devise and deliver an ambitious programme of cultural and creative activity, in ways that will attract and engage the imagination of local, national and an international audience and creating an inspirational legacy for the town of Arbroath.

Objectives: The Arbroath 2020 Group was established to create cultural events and festivals inspired by the historical narrative that exists around one of Scotland's most important documents. the Declaration of Arbroath. 4.1 To advance, citizenship and community development through the delivery of a cultural programme, that includes a strong place making and creative learning strategy which maximises the involvement of a diverse local audience. 4.2 To advance the role that heritage and culture can have in bringing communities together through culture and creativity. We will devise and deliver an ambitious programme of cultural and creative activity, in such a way that will involve local people and attract and engage the imagination of local, national and an international audiences.
