## **Objectives and Activities**

We exist to _**‘make Jesus known in Barlanark and beyond’**_ . We want the people of Barlanark (and beyond) to find HOPE in the true message of Christianity. As part of this we want to engage with our community and help bring hope through social, emotional and spiritual means.

We do this in many ways including; worshipping together on a Sunday morning, engaging in youth/children’s work in the community, helping community members as they battle addictions / hardship and running activities that provide space for community members to feel welcome and part of the wider community.

We have engaged with many people from Barlanark (and beyond) over the last year and have many encouraging stories of people finding HOPE through the church as we point them to Jesus and get alongside them as a community.

Check out http://www.myhopestory.co.uk for examples of the types of people we work with!

We have also started to partner with 20schemes in order to help communities ‘beyond’ Barlanark by working to find places and train people for these places so what is happening in ‘Hope Community Church Barlanark’ could happen in many other places in Glasgow and the West too.

## **Structure, Governance and Management**

Constitution

We are governed by a written constitution that was approved by OSCR on 9[th] October 2017.

Trustee recruitment and appointment

We have three permanent trustees who also serve as pastors of the church. Within the next year we hope to have appointed another trustee.

## **Achievements and Performance**

The Lord continues to bless us here in Barlanark (& Baillieston!). This year we have been working through Nehemiah and then a series called ‘54321 Covenant’ before sending off 15 members to plant ‘Baillieston Community Church’. It will be hard to lose these members but it is an encouragement to be able to see a tangible expression of reaching ‘BEYOND’ Barlanark. This year we have also sent another family and two single men to revitalise a church in Springburn and another member to be a women’s worker in Kilmarnock. This all helps us ‘make Jesus known in Barlanark and beyond’.

Since last year we have had 1 new member join us, she is now doing an internship and is doing great.

We continue to enjoy being able to worship again on Sundays in Barlanark. Our ministries in Barlanark are going well as we continue to engage with people in the Community Centre at our Toddlers, Kids Clubs and Craft time. HCCBFC is going strong and we have started a Pilates class in order to reach more females in the community. We are praying that we continue to make it our priority to serve the community of Barlanark and not get distracted by all the beyond work.

We also are blessed by are ongoing partnership with 20schemes to be able to train workers and help churches in other communities in the WEST.

## **Financial Review**

Our main income has been from donations of our members and grants from 20schemes.

Our own ministry expenses now all go through our accounts. As predicted our expenses have been considerable less this year due to separating out the ‘WEST Hub’ expenses and releasing the Baillieston team.

We also still give a lot of money away which is deemed ‘Mission Out’. This goes to other churches, organisations or individuals we support (such as The Millar’s in Maryhill, The Rogan’s in Aviemore, Ronald Kogo in Africa and The Bridgmans’ in rural Kansas). We hope to change some of these next year.

More detailed Profit & Loss accounts are available on request with information on the donations in and expenses paid out.

**7**

## **Future Plans**

As part of our ‘20schemes WEST Hub’, we are also working to train people to send to new churches and to support the work of existing churches in Glasgow and the West. Longer term, we still will be taking over the employment of most 20schemes West of Scotland staff from ‘Niddrie Community Church’.
