Objectives and Activities

We exist to ‘make Jesus known in Barlanark and beyond’ . We want the people of Barlanark (and beyond) to find HOPE in the true message of Christianity. As part of this we want to engage with our community and help bring hope through social, emotional and spiritual means.

We do this in many ways including; worshipping together on a Sunday morning, engaging in youth/children’s work in the community, helping community members as they battle addictions / hardship and running activities that provide space for community members to feel welcome and part of the wider community.

We have engaged with many people from Barlanark (and beyond) over the last year and have many encouraging stories of people finding HOPE through the church as we point them to Jesus and get alongside them as a community.

Check out http://www.myhopestory.co.uk for examples of the types of people we work with!

We have also started to partner with 20schemes in order to help communities ‘beyond’ Barlanark by working to find places and train people for these places so what is happening in ‘Hope Community Church Barlanark’ could happen in many other places in Glasgow and the West too.

4

Structure, Governance and Management

Constitution

We are governed by a written constitution that was approved by OSCR on 9[th] October 2017.

Trustee recruitment and appointment

We have five permanent trustees who also serve as pastors of the church. Within the next year we will have sent two of these out to lead other churches in the West of Scotland.

Achievements and Performance

The Lord continues to bless us here in Barlanark (& Baillieston!). Working through John’s gospel, the prophet Jonah’s story and Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians has been a fruitful time both for new and older believers and the visitors we have had.

Since last year we have had 9 new members including 1 baptism of a local lady from Baillieston. 5 members have left the church in this time all to go on and do ministry for other churches.

The Baillieston Plant Team led by is going strong. They have been ministering in Baillieston through community meals and by generally being involved in the community. They have now got a solid team that we hope will form the basis of a healthy church. We expect them to continue to reach into the community and launch in their own right by June 2025.

It has been an immense blessing to have been able to worship again on Sundays in Barlanark since January 2024. We are very thankful to both Glasgow City Council and Our Lady Peace school as we now meet in the school on Sunday mornings. Our ministries in Barlanark are going well as we continue to engage with people in the Community Centre at our Toddlers, Kids Clubs and Craft time. We have also started a church football team (HCCBFC) this year and we are engaging with a lot of young men in the community through this.

Church life has been increasingly busy as we have been growing our partnership with 20schemes as we are now the WEST Hub of operations. It has been a great encouragement for us to see a number of new opportunities to help start/support other churches in the WEST, as we continue to do all we can do to ‘Make Jesus Known’ in ‘Barlanark’ and ‘BEYOND’. Financial Review

= Bank Interest
= Gift Aid
----- End of picture text -----

Our main income has been from donations of our members and grants from 20schemes.

Our own ministry expenses now all go through our accounts. This year has been a transitional year as we work to plant a church in Baillieston and function as the ‘WEST HUB’ of 20schemes. Over the next year we hope to separate these things out in a clearer way.

We also still give a lot of money away which is deemed ‘Mission Out’. This goes to other churches, organisations or individuals we support (such as , ,

).

More detailed Profit & Loss accounts are available on request with information on the donations in and expenses paid out.

7

Future plansPlans

We are still working to plan a church plant in the building we have been given to use in Baillieston. As part of our ‘20schemes WEST Hub’, we are also working to train people to send to new churches and to support the work of existing churches in Glasgow and the West. Longer term, we still will be taking over the employment of most 20schemes West of Scotland staff from ‘Niddrie Community Church’.

trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance
with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the
Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees
consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations
does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section

Basis of independent
examiner’s statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts
Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the
charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes
consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks
explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken
do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do
not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
