Objectives: 7.1 The SCIO aims to set up grassroots tennis programmes in Scotland for the purpose of encouraging people to enjoy tennis and physical activity in general (in whatever form of active participation) through sustainable and accessible sports programmes and, in doing so, support the efforts of communities to overcome social and economic barriers to enjoying and engaging in such activities and assist the members of those communities to develop their full potential as responsible, enthused, fulfilled, healthy and resilient members of their community and society. 7.2 For the purposes of the 2005 Act the following charitable purposes are (i) particularly relevant and (ii) are the charitable purposes identified as applicable from section 7 of the 2005 Act:- 7.2.1 the advancement of public participation in sport. 7.2.2 the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. 7.2.3 the advancement of citizenship or community development. and 7.2.4 the relief of those in need by reason of age, financial hardship or other disadvantage. 7.3 For the purposes of the Taxes Acts the provisions set out in clauses 7.1 and 7.1 shall be read together to ensure the charitable purposes of the SCIO are compliant with the Taxes Acts.
