_The Charity is a Scottish Charitable Organisation (SC047765). It was registered in its current legal form on 22 September 2017._
_In March 2024 Skye Stroke Friends ceased its relational affiliation with Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland._

## _Objectives and Activities_
_Charitable purposes_
_To advance and maintain the health of individuals who have had a stroke and their carers by: -_
_Offering the opportunity to socialise with others in similar circumstances and take part in activities that aid recovery. Raising funds to maintain the functions of the group._
## _Activities_
_Skye Stroke Friends meet weekly to provide support for Stroke Survivors and respite for their carers. We aim to meet from 1 – 3 pm each Wednesday. Activities are provided to stimulate, encourage and rehabilitate. Weekly transport provision is provided by our volunteers and members as required/available._
_We work in partnership with businesses other organisations and charities to fundraise and raise awareness for Skye Stroke Friends._
## _Achievements and Performance_
_We have met regularly each week unless cancelled due to inclement weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Social, monthly outings have been well attended and enjoyed by members through May - September. Three new group members and 2 volunteers joined us during 2025 and very sadly 2 valued members and 1 stalwart volunteer were deceased._
_We invited guests, speakers and specialists to our meetings, these included our local Speech & Language Therapist and student, SLCVO representative, Project Researcher for ARMS Centre, Musicians and Singers along with family and friends of our late volunteer Catherine Budge, for a memorial afternoon tea and a Citizens Advice Bureau representative. A private funded physiotherapist provided group taster sessions with a view to coming monthly if additional funding is secured. The group were kindly hosted for an enjoyable quiz afternoon at Tigh na Drochaid._
_Members received a gift voucher and card to celebrate their birthday, and we also organised celebratory birthday cakes to share at the group meetings._
_An NHS secure email address was obtained in January 2025 along with an NHS Highland Information Sharing Agreement which was signed off in September 2025. As a result, in partnership with Allied Health Professionals, the Sunflower Fund was set up to provide small items of equipment free of charge for any stroke survivors living in Skye and Raasay. Applications to the Fund will be strictly through Allied Health Professionals (Therapists) to ensure equipment is appropriate._
_A service review questionnaire was distributed to all members; the evaluation results were collated and used to inform reports and future planning._
_An information leaflet for Skye Stroke Friends was created and distributed to GP Centres and the local community at funding events. A ‘Grasping the Nettle’ Report was compiled, distributed and well received during September 2025. In addition, a new Facebook page was established for the group in July 2025._
_Skye Stroke Friends became members of Volunteer Scotland and all Trustees and Volunteers had the necessary PVG Disclosures completed._

## _Financial review_
_We do not charge for our services. We rely on donations and apply for funding as and when required and appropriate. Our sincere thanks go to Donald Rankin Business Services for their loyal and invaluable support in inspecting our annual accounts._

## _Reserves policy_
_The trustees’ policy is to spend appropriately as funds allow; the Reserves Policy is reviewed annually by Trustees and members. We continue to hire Skeabost Memorial Hall for our weekly meetings. We have insurance cover in place to cover our activities, public and trustee liability._
## _Policies_
_Four Trustees were appointed as Skye Stroke Friends Policy Reviewers, with policies being reviewed annually._
_New policies/processes created during the financial year: Volunteer Roles, PVG Policies, Falls Protocol._
## _Plans for next financial year_
_We aim to continue to meet regularly at Skeabost Memorial Hall and organise monthly social outings next summer. We aim to secure the funding required to launch a Sunflower Fund for small equipment purchases. We aim to secure funding for Physiotherapist to provide monthly, group support sessions._
