## **Trustees' Annual Report**

## **Structure, Governance and Management**

## _Governing Document_

The Charity is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) that is governed by its Club Constitution. The charity was granted charitable status on the 7 September 2017.

## _Trustee Recruitment and appointment_

The charity's trustees are responsible for managing the club to run effectively and are fully committed and to make good decisions in the best interest of Knightswood FC. All of the charity’s Trustees are appointed or reappointed by the members at the annual general meeting.

## **Objectives and Activities**

## _Charitable purposes_

Knightswood Football Club is a community organisation that is committed to supporting young people and adults through football. We deliver training sessions to all age groups and provide opportunities that are open to all ages and backgrounds. Knightswood FC uses the power of sport to improve education, raise awareness on mental health and building life skills not only for our players but also for everyone involved in the club. Our aim is to provide a fun, safe environment for all young people and adults to participate in football, working towards personal development and providing each person with their own platform to ensure they are reaching their full potential.

## _Main Activities_

- Deliver structured training programs designed to develop players' fundamental skills and help them achieve their full

- potential on and off the pitch.

- Focus on fostering teamwork and reinforcing the value of each individual's role within the team through engaging and inclusive training sessions.

- Promote and enhance physical, mental, and social well-being as integral components of player development.

- Champion equality and diversity by actively combating discrimination in football through targeted education and

- learning initiatives.

## **Achievements and Performance**

Knightswood Football Club's focus for 2024 was centred on growth, community engagement, and infrastructure development. Key priorities include:

**50th anniversary:** a civic reception at Glasgow City Chambers, highlighting its long-standing contribution to football and community engagement.

**Growth and Development:** Knightswood Football Club's continued growth has been a success and providing opportunities to over 350 players, the club has established itself as a vital part of the community, creating a grassroots pathway for players of all age groups up to under-18s. This dedication has not only nurtures talent but also fosters teamwork, discipline, and physical well-being, making it a cornerstone of sports development and community engagement.

## **Trustees' Annual Report**

## **Achievements and Performance (Continued)**

**Player pathway:** As a club we have built a strong framework for player progression, offering a clear pathway from grassroots levels to competitive football. The club's structure supports players of all ages, starting with youth teams and advancing to senior levels. This progression is underpinned by our dedicated coaches, skill development programs, and opportunities to participate in local and regional leagues.

**PMGC Development:** Knightswood Football Club has been actively working on plans to redevelop the Yoker Sports Centre football grounds. These pitches, which have been unused and in poor condition for years, are part of the club's vision to create a state-of-the-art facility that can serve as their permanent home. The redevelopment aims to provide accessible and affordable opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to engage in healthy recreational activities, particularly young people. Currently, our club operates out of Scotstoun Leisure Centre, but the growing demand for our services has made it challenging to rely solely on these facilities. The proposed Yoker pitches would not only meet the club's needs but also benefit the wider community by offering a space for sports and social activities.

## **Financial Review**

The trustees are aware that this policy is not being met and aim to build unrestricted reserves through income generation.

## _Financial Review_

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner:**

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of Independent Examiner's statement:**

My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.

## **Independent Examiner's statement:**

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements to:

- keep accounting records in accordance with section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and

- prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations

have not been met, or

2. To which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
