## **Chairman’s Report** 

It gives me great pleasure to present this year’s Chairman’s Report for the City of Inverness Pipe Band. The 2024-2025 season has been one of strong musical progress and continued growth across all sections of the band. 

Both bands enjoyed a one of their best seasons so far, with consistent performances and encouraging results throughout the summer.  The standard of playing continues to rise, and it is clear that the effort put in during winter practices has paid off. 

It has been heartening to see strong attendance at practices from both pipers and drummers. The enthusiasm across the ranks has contributed greatly to our progress.  The Grade 4B band, in particular, has developed extremely well this year. 

In terms of governance, the unexpected return to the Chairman role in July 2025 has proven a challenge but I look forward to handing over to, and supporting your new Chair and continue to support the band. 

Looking forward to 2025, a lot of work is needed, and I share the view o at we have a challenging season ahead in terms of numbers and the competition scene. 

In closing, I would like to express my sincere thanks to our Pipe Major, Leading Drummer, tutors, committee, and every band member for their hard work, loyalty, and support. 

## **Pipe Major’s Report** 

xtended his thanks to or the seamless transition on her uptake as Lead Drummer which helped to keep the band stable. 

The 2024-2025 season brought in some good results and prizes with both bands making appearances at all the major Championships. 

The highlight of the year being the British Championships in Forres where both the Grande 3A and Grade 4B bank came third in their respective grades. 

The 2024 season saw both bands competing across the whole spectrum starting with the local quartets competitions, and performances generally improved throughout the summer.  Attendance across the band was stable throughout the season. 

The end of the season through the winter however has seen some significant challenges, particularly in Grade 4B where other committments have resulted in a loss of playing members.  A core of 4/5 pipers remained consistent in practice attendance, but sadly this was not sufficient for us to put out a 4B band in the early part of the year, and the overall forecast for the summer of 2025 was that only one band would be able to perform. 

Overall a successful year but we remain cautious for the following season. 



## **Governance** 

The Trustees have pleasure in presenting their report together with the financial statements and the Independent Examiners report for the year ended 31st March 2025. 

## **Constitution and Purpose** 

The Group’s name is the City of Inverness Pipe Band, whose principal address is 

The Purpose of the Band is to promote and develop the playing of the Highland Bagpipe and Pipe Band drumming; to provide tuition in piping and drumming and to perform as a Pipe Band in the community and in competitions. 

## **Trustees 2024-2025** 


All elected post holders / committee members will act as trustees of the Band at all times in line with the latest guidance provided by OSCR and as such, trustees will hold the title to the property, assets and funds of the Band in trust on behalf of the Band. 

## **Reserves Policy** 

The Trustees of the City of Inverness Pipe Band commit to maintaining reserves to the equivalent of four months typical expenditure to allow for differences in phasing between receipts and payments and to plan for investment in instruments and uniforms.  Reserves continue to exceed this level. 

The Trustees declare that they have approved the Trustees Report for the year ended 31st March 2025.

## **Other Assets:** 

The Band owns equipment consisting of uniforms and musical instruments to the value of £76,660. 

## **Liabilities:** 

The band has no material liabilities or obligations. 

## **Management Committee/Trustees Remuneration and Expenses:** 

No Trustee has received any renumeration, benefits in kind or reimbursement of expenses during the year in respect of their role as a Trustee. 



## **Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of City of Inverness Pipe Band, SCO47623.** 

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31st March 2025. 

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner** 

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

## **Basis of independent examiner’s statement** 

My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts. 

## **Independent examiner’s qualified statement** 

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention 

1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: 

· to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations 

· to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations have not been met, or 

2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
