During the late summer, we successfully ap ￿Tred for funding supwt for communty
engagement from the Angus Rural Partnership with funding from the Scottish Govemmenl'5
Rural Communty-Led Local Development Fund, part of the Scottish Rural Development
Programme. The funding allowed u5 to increase our communrty engagement and education
work at Dronley Wood Ipart-tirne Communty Engagement Officer) and purchase tools and
materials to offer Icnger educational visits to schools.
Volunteer Da
During the last year, we have organised over 30 vcdunteer days and education days (attended
by more than 30 people} to help us transfom Dronley Community Woodland into a resilient
mixed wood for the benefft offuture generations. Our small group of very committed
volunteers helped us enomiously during the last year.
The funding support from the Angus Rural Partnership allowed us to earry out a lot of
volunteer days. Many volunteer days have focused on pyotecting more than 3200 planted
trees from browsing damage by setting up tree shelters. We planted approximately 1000
trees, including Oak. Sweet ChestnuL Red Oak, Silver Birch, and Sycan￿re. in areas
damaged by recent storms. The funding support also enabled us to purchase an additional
800 trees and tree shelters. which we wll use during the r￿xt planting season.
During the e4)mmunty erKJagement woiect. we also wanted to involve more people in our
ecological woojland transfomiath)n project al Dronley Wo&d. We have altogether 5 new
