Our purpose is to develop community health resilience in order to save lives across Scotland, through the provision of core services: Patient Transport, Public Access Defibrillators, CPR training and effective collaboration with partners and other agencies. Our organisational aims are: for SJS to be a well recognised and effective Scottish Charity, developing and supporting community health resilience through our active local volunteers and by collaborative working throughout Scotland. for our volunteers to provide excellent service and to feel valued by their communities and St John Scotland. to remain committed to playing our part in the world-wide work of St John while retaining our primary focus on Scotland, and. to demonstrate our commitment to the history, values and ethos of Order of St John in all that we do.
Beneficiaries: 'Other charities or voluntary bodies'
Objectives: (a) Advancement of citizenship or community development) encouragement of all that makes for the spiritual and moral strengthening of mankind in accordance with the first great principle of the Order embodied in the Motto 'Pro Fide'. ii) recommendation to the Grand Prior of the award of Medals, Badges or Certificates of Honour for special services in the cause of humanity especially for saving or attempting to save life at imminent personal risk. iii) encouragement of research into the history of the Order in Scotland and the formation, by gift or otherwise, of a Library and Museum of objects connected with the history of the Order in Scotland. iv) maintenance of contact and the development of collaboration with kindred Establishments and Orders of St John. (b) The Relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage) provision, maintenance encouragement and promotion of all work of humanity and charity for the relief of persons in sickness, distress, suffering or danger, without distinction of race, class or creed and in the extension of the second great principle of the Order embodied in the Motto 'Pro Utilitate Hominum'. ii) the rendering of aid to the sick, wounded, disabled or suffering and the promotion of such permanent organisation during times of peace as may be at once available in times of civil emergencies or war, including the training and provision of technical reserves for the medical services of the Armed Forces or any Civil Defence Organisations. (c) The Advancement of health) provision of assistance in the maintenance and development of the St John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem and the clinics and research projects connected therewith.
