Structure, Governance and Management
Constitution
The charity is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO). It was registered at the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) on 5 May 2017. It has a single tier structure and as such the Trustees are members of the charity.
Appointment of Trustees
The board composed entirely of charity trustees has the power to appoint new charity trustees. At each annual general meeting one third of the trustees retire by rotation and are eligible for reappointment. Appointment of trustees made at a board meeting have their appointment reconfirmed at the subsequent annual general meeting. There must be a minimum of three and a maximum of eight trustees.
Objectives and Activities
Charitable purposes
The organisation’s purposes are:
To provide support and empower any individual within Dundee who has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and those who care and support them to access quality activities and services to promote physical and mental well-being, health equality and diversity.
To provide a safe environment / facility for service users of DASH to have the opportunity to socialise and have fun by bringing individuals together who can share common interests, capabilities and offering opportunities to explore interest and transition from child to adulthood.
To provide a One Stop Shop Hub for anyone affected by autism to access appropriate up-todate information, advice and signposting to relevant organisations.
To support, raise awareness, tolerance and acceptance of Autism Spectrum Disorder in Dundee.
Activities
The main activities of the organisation are:
Provision of a “One stop shop” information hub
Provision of workshops and training
- Delivery of support groups
Achievements and review of activities during the year
DASH is proud to be a grass roots organisation, which works directly with adults and children who have had a diagnosis of autism. As with all charities, the impact of the COVID pandemic greatly affected the work of DASH and the adult group was closed when lockdown started did not restart. DASH received a grant of £2,000 from STV at the start of 2020, which we have continued to use to provide support to families who were struggling to help children cope with isolation. We made 4 further awards during the 12 months to May 2021.

Financial Review
Income and expenditure for the year end 31st May 2021 are provided in a Statement of Receipts and Payments on page 7. The statement shows a net outflow of funds/surplus for the year of £2,304.
During the year we received no additional grant awards. Due to the COVID pandemic we were unable to hold any fund raising events.
Reserves Policy
As a charity which receives most of its funding from time limited grants, the organisation constantly strives to maintain resources to support future activities. The trustees’ policy is that we will only agree to fund projects where funding is secured.
Closure of the Charity
The Charity was aware of the need to attract additional Trustees and volunteers to provide support to the wider Autism community in Dundee. The DASH adult group has not formally restarted since the national lockdown in March 2020. The impact of the COVID Pandemic has been to prevent DASH from carrying out its objectives. Restrictions have prevented DASH from offering support through meetings and workshops.
As a result at a meeting on 24[th] May 2021 the trustees of DASH took the decision to formally close the charity with immediate effect. An application to wind up the charity has been submitted to OSCR. Any remaining funding has either been returned to the funder in the case of STV, or will be passed to a local Dundee charity which has similar aims and objectives to DASH.
We would like to thank all those who have supported DASH in the past and wish you all the best for the future.
