Universal Credit.. From November 2017 Angus was one of the pilot 5cheme5 for the roll out of Universal Credit to replace existin8 benefits. We continue to help those who were transferred to this new benefit and the problems of client5 Walting six week5 or more for payment5 and all the associated debt problem5. The Pantrf5 policy 15 not to Bive oui any financial help but to help with bud8etin8 if required. SignpostinB'. Many of our clients need assistance with bud8etin8, benefits knowledge, computer access, healih and well-beinB issues. With the various skill sets within our Volunteers and Trustees, this year we have been able to assist client5 on these vaiiou5 issue5 and point them in the correct direction for further and offiiial diredion. Food Share.. We continue to benefit from food share operated by the local Tesco store. which provided the Pantry with on date or short date food items that would normally be disposed of, this both saves Waste and supports our client5. This year we have a150 been accepted throu6h Neighbourly program to benefit from the Fresh Produce which is on date or short date from the local kndl store. This has been a 8reat help in promotin8 health eating and saves our tinned and packet food items. The Co-op accepted u5 as a Food Share partner in October 2019 and this ha5 contributed to the supply of fresh and chilled produce, includinB raw meats and poulrry. This has enabled us to keep a rotational stock in our freezers. Christmas: For Christmas 2020 we experienced wonderful generosity from boih the community. thurches. schools. youth organisation's, local emergency senrice units and stores with seasonal items that enabled us to 8ive our clients little bit extra for Chrislma5. Brechin Community Christmas Day Lunch.. We were approached by a few local volunteers in assi5tinB with the Christmas Day lunch for folks on rheir own and for those not able to afford to celebrate Christmas day. We assisted by being the central point for booking forms and holding food items donated in our fridges and freezers. This was a great success with nearly 50 people including familie5 aliending. We have agieed to continue our support for this event each year as we are able. Whal we have achieved.. At the end of March 2021 we had we had seen an increase in registralion5 and with the impact of Covid-19 we saw the numbers dramatically increase as we be8an to support the Angus Council Impact team deliver to the vulnerable. elderly and families acr055 Brechin District and Montf05e. The Numbers of per50n5 registered was 3051 numbÈrs of 3-day parcels issued was 13220 and the total number of meals provided within thÈsÈ parcels was 46270. Holiday Poverty. In April 2020 we provided a breakfast, lunch and snack service to the various activities and club throughout the holidays. Throu8hout the summer we continued to deliver a packed lunch service to the An8us communities. teams activity proBram. The uptake over the 6 week5 was 482 packed lunche5. We have seen the development of several our individual volunteers become more confident in dealings wilh all, Bivin8 something back and as515ting them to Bet back to employment. Wo are now in rocoipt of sanirary goods to issue as required to our clienis. This is a Scotiish backed initiative and the products are supplied directly from Fare shale in Dundee. Independeni Food Aid Network IIFANI.. The Paniry is a member of ihis organization, who repons to the Scottish Government on the woik provided by Independent Food Banks/ Pantrfs such as us. We supply them with an anonymou5 data analy515 based on usa8e of the Pantry. These figure5 breakdown information such as nurnber5 children, Housin8 demographic, which benefits are bein6 claimed by our clients and general reporting of our work. Thi5 information 15 gathered then published- the next reporting period will be April 2020. Our Vision.. Is Still to promote healthy eating by issuing a5 much fruit and vegetables as possible, to give simple recipÈs for basic soups and meals and in the lon8 term a premises to enable us to teach people how to cook simple and economical meals. We secured the lease from Angus Council for 50150A High Street, Brechin in October 2019 for use as a clothes bank. Donations have been hu8e and a lot of work has gone into the marba8ernent and set up of thi5 service. However due to Covid-19 this project had to be halted. We continued to supply clothe5 to our client5 if needed, however due to low take up and the pandemic we made the decision in April 2020 to donate all of the clothing to other agencies. The Narional Lottery Grant received in April 2020 of £10,000, was for runnin8 Cost for both of our sites and to provide a small interview room at 7 Swan Street. With advent of Covid19, a8reement wa5 rnade wwth the National Lottery that we would convert 50A HiRh Srreei to a Resource Centre. The Store at 50A was converted for use ol Food Hub to serve North Angu5 and Mearn5 where we received fi)od and suppliÈs from the Scottish Government and Supermarkets ihrou8h Food Share to supply foodbanks and a8oncies as well as the Pantry. We had a lot of help frorn Angus Council with the donation of two lai8e commercial refrigerators and freezers. plus their communities team. This enable us to distribute ambient. chilled and frozen food under this 202011 has been a successful year in continuing to for8e relationships with other agencies such as community mental health. hou5in& social services. justice team. DWP and drug5 and alcohol. P05t Covid. we are Still working with Angu5 Council and Volunteer Action An8US Wlth support with food parcels. We are continuin8 to review the need and develop with our partneis the need5 of the cornrnunity. Financial Review The principle source of income is in the form of donations, 8rants and vouchers tO8ether by a 8enerous Community. Our main expendilure is for the runnin8 Costs for our two building5. establishrnent Costs. plus supplementary costs for food items. toiletries and household Droducts. Reserve Poli It is the Trustees policy to prepare a budget at the beginning of each financial year. for both income and expenditure based on the previoLJS year's running cosrs and provide fundraisin8 targets. It Is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 4411) Icl of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my Basis of independent examinerfs Statement My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotlandl Regulations 2006 las amended). An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records.
