Charitable Purposes
The advan￿ment of education and advancernent of health. The provision of recreational facilities
and the organisation of recreational actmties. with the object of improving the conditions of lrfe
for the benefft of the inhabitants of Newarthill. This is in co-operation with local authorities.

Governing Document - Constitution
Communlty Artlon Newarthlll (CAN) is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organi5ation ISCIO),
registered on 2yh February 2017. It has a two- tier stn￿tUre consisting of members and trustees.
Trustee recruitment and appointment
The Trustees on our management board are appointed in accordance with the constitution and as
a Broup, they hold a wide range of ￿levant skills. As well as the trustees who were involved in
founding the organisation, we have a Co￿pted member.
The Induction of trustees includes infonnation on their role and legal responsibilities, as well as the
constitution and policies of Community Action Newarthill. The management board meet monthlv;
hO￿er. sub-8roups meet more regularty to dixuss specific issues such as planning of fundraisin8
events and programme development. We hold twice yearly board training meetings to keep all
members infornied of any updates.

Achievements and perforniance
Our numbers are still increasing. We have continued with all our regularty attended groups. We
were awarded our Phase 3 Lottery FundirE in November 2024 which will enable us to continue the
group into end of 2027.
Community Action Newarthill ran an open day for our volunteers and service users to
commemorate 40 years ofvolunteer Week. We organised a small buffet and games as a thank you
to all our volunteers. This was well received. In 2024 we a150 ernployed our second employee to
help with the ever-Inc￿a$in8 groups and admin.

Our Aims
Due to the three-year funding from Lottery. we have started a Chronic Illne55 Group. Online
Meditation and Healthy Cooking Classes. As there seems to be no end to the 8rowing cost of living
crisis we ran a slow cookery course on a budget and will be running alr fryer budget courses In the
future.
Our Cyr￿nt lottery funding will enable us to reach our 10 year anniversary in February 2027.

Financial review
The Receipts and Payments Account attathed shows the income and expenditure for the year
generated by the group's fvnding and activities.
The group received grant funding totalling £63.369 from the folk)wing funds. This is made up of
both restricted and unrestricted income.

The restricted funding was received to help contribute towards the costs of salary costs. room lets,
equlpment. caterin& activitles. theraples. and ststlonery.
Unrestricted income received throughout the year totalled £13,955. This included £8.984 from
Activity Fees. £3.870 fmm otherfundraising artivities and donations, £350 from Scotmid Co-op and
£750 unrestricted from Robertson's Trust.
The total income received was £76.224.
Expenditure throughout the year included salary costs, artivities tutors, therapists, room lets,
equipment and general running costs totsllin8 £67.777 for the year.
This resulted in an overall surplus for the year of £7.577. from unrestricted surplus of £9,555 and
restricted deficit of £11,977).
Reserves
The operating balance of cash at the bank and in hand carried forward on the 31st of December
2024 is £74,220.
Community Action Newarthill has adapted a new reserves policy accurnulatin8 to £18.150 to cover
redundancy, fixed assets, etc.
The accounts for the year are attached and fonn part of this report.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of
Community Action Newarthill
I rèport on the accounts of the tharity for theyear ended 31 De￿rnber2￿4 which are Set out on
pages 9 to 14.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
ThÈ charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the
terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotlandl Act 2UJ5 and the Charities Accounts
Iscotlandl Regulations 2￿6 las amended). The charity trustees consider that the audit
requirement of Regulation 10111 Idl of the 2CJ)6 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my
resF)on5ibility to examlne ihe acc(xJntS a5 requlred under sectlon 4411) Icl of the Act and lo state
whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examlnerfs statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 21x16 Accounts Regulations.
An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a compari50n
of the accounts presented wf(h those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items
or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations frorn the trustees concerning any such
matter& The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidente that would be required in an
audiL and consequently I do noi express an audit oplnlon on the view 8lven by the accounts.
