Kingdom Theatre Company – Annual Report For year ending January 2024

Registered SCIO charity SC047095 Address:

INTRODUCTION

This report covers 1[st] February 2023 to 31[st] January 2024 and our seventh year as a registered SCIO. Edinburgh Fringe 2023 was with a brand-new show Queen Of The New Year opening August 4 – 19 (except Aug 13) but sales were poor in the 60-seater Lime Theatre as part of Greenside Nicolson Square. The show was originally called Chocolate Girl after the Deacon Blue song (with kind permission from composer

but the venue thought this a sensitive title, so it was changed and new artwork devised which added to the diversion. Additionally, we had a preview dress rehearsal at Kings Theatre Kirkcaldy but all rehearsals as before were at Auld Mill House Hotel, Dunfermline. We also were privileged to be part of the opening gala at Adam Smith Theatre in September. Sadly, our long-time star actor assed away on October 4[th] RIP. We acknowledge support from Fi who funded

our print run, and we offered them a full page in our printed programme in response. MEMBERSHIP

The trustees were the same as the previous year with (Chair)

(Treasurer) and (Secretary). After auditions in May, rehearsals started in June 2023, for ten evenings before opening on August 4[th] . Students for this year included

INCOME

Gross income totaled £3251.33 from all sources down from £8606.64 the previous year while sponsorship was again zero. Ticket sales were lower than expected with no reviewers as such and two shows were cancelled during the two-week run. As before the three trustees received no renumeration in any case.

FUTURE

We have a new script for Kelty Clippie (Just The Ticket) still under review and a few options on original musical theatre plus it will be the tenth anniversary of Sinatra: The Final Curtain so a revival might take place if finances allow. We still have several shows at the writing stage but due to financial and management restraints will hold these to a more appropriate time. With audiences lower than in previous years it is envisaged that for 2024 a smaller venue and shorter run might be more economic for the company.
