2022 ENGAGEMENTS PROJECTS AND EVENTS
The repercus5ion5 of Covid 19 were still prevolenl Ihrovghoul 2022, wilh much of the
communily still wary of, ond guarded loword, the disconlinuation of govemmenl
regulolions ond guidance protocols. Computsory face coverings indoor5 were lifled
in Jonuory.. however stringent Heallh & Safety conventions ond rigorous
hov5ekeeping meosures were slrictly maintained by Celebrate Kilmamock
throvghovt the yeor.
In February, project ideos were discussed and l¢xmuloled for "Scotlond's Yeor of
stories" 12.2.221 ond follo￿ng a successful funding opplicalion. £5k was oworded by
Creative Scotlarid to commission a play which was performed later in the year (see
November).

116.2.221 wilh the Celebrate Kilmornock Boord and Tnjslees. They learned how social
medio can benefit Celebrole Kilmamock's communlty led objectNes and ideology.
In March, Celebrate Kilmornock hosled the Are You (Too Hipl To Be Square? event
117.3.221. It was the first public informolion meeting regording the Sl. Mornock's
Square Gorden & Mvral following Ihe pandemic, and ollracled over 30 enthusiaslic
members of the communily lo discuss the proposed public artwork ond londscoping
al Ihe sile. Tom Lighlbody Ilhe mural artist) gove o very lively ond inlormalive talk on
Ihe project. and there was o universol feeling of ontlcipolion ond confidence in
bolh the design ond Ihe underlaking.
April was a busy month. wilh on Eosler Tre05vro Hunt Ihe town's primory schools

Many children & lamli ies look port. running round Ihe Town Cenlre for o weèk,
looking for clues in Ihe window5 of the 9 local shops who participaled in Ihis very
enjoyable. entertaining and successful community evenl.
The inougvral Eosler Craft & Activity Day I16.4.221 was anolher resounding success.
The Celebrate Kilmamock 0￿￿e$ come alive wilh the sound of kids thoroughly
enjoying themselves. Seed plonling, foce painling. card moking, Easter egg
decorating and many olher games ond activities kepl them all happity occupted
ond entartoined. The kids land thew families) had a blast. And it was oll free.

There was an air of excitemenl ond anticipation throughout the lown when Ihe long
awailed Countess of Kilmamock Mural begon to toke shape ot st. Mamock's
Square.

June begon with a well oltended ond lively Diamond Jubilee party for Queen
Elizabeth by Easl Ayrshire Breolhe Easy I1.2.221. The group have used Ihe Celebrole
Kilmornock offices since their inception. ond Ihey th￿oughty enjoyed an allemoon
ol celebration and games.
Also in June. Celebrale Kilmomock held o very iMp￿an1 Reconnecl & Revil0115e
evening I10.6.221.It was the first mojor social event 5inco Ihe pandemic. and it
proved lo be the ideol opportunity lor Ihe slokeholders. volvnleers and assoeiotes to
meet vp ogain ond reconnect with Celebrole Kilmamock and each olher.11 was
well oltended and gave everyone Ihe impetus and enlhusiasm to refo¢vs on the
155u6s and chollenges within Ihe lown centre loltowing Covid-19.
The welcome retvm ol the Satvrdoy showcases in July12-30.7.221 brought back live
music and enlertoinmenl again the people of Kilmamock.
It was refreshing lo WIne￿ Ihe enlhu%05m ond porticipation of the people on King
street. Kilmomock hos on enviable resource of tolenled musicians of all genres, and
the chonce to showcase Iheir floy ond undoubted Skills were agoin well received by
the public.
An importani public information day was held116.7.221 for Ihe community lo
engage with, discuss and debate the forthcoming E05t Ayrshire Local Development
Plan ILDP21.
The Celebrole Kilmamock offic85 were open lo Ihe lownspeople to consull with the
council plonner5 on Ihe proposed development5 wilhin Ihe Town Cenlre. Probing
qvestions were osked. ond mony challenging debale5 and conversotion5 en5ved.

The community certainly expressed IheK views, osp￿0110nS ond reseNations on the

There were many hlghly successful events held by Celelyate Kilmamock in 2022. The
relurn of the free Candlelil Concert in the New Laigh Kirk was no exception

Three completely fabulous acts. from totally different genres. The close Harmony of
The Infinity Choir. Modern Folk from Binky Blue. and a one-man funklsoul band bv
Cad Esprit Bridgeman. Held in the wonderfully olmospheric New Loigh KKk. the 2nd
Candlelil Concert highlighled the best in local talent. captivaling o well ottend&d
audience. Indeed. Binky Blue were invlled lo the Cellic Connection in Glasgow
afte￿Ords.
The cold December evenings were warmed vp by the Chrislmos Social evening
116.12.221.11 was o more informol golhering this time. lo pay thanks lo all Ihe
volunteers. helpets, lacility users ond friends for Iheir invaluable ossistonce
throughout the yeor. ond especially during the various events Celebrate Kilmamock
hosted. Their commitment to Celebrate KilmarrK>ck. the￿ enlhusiosm and endeavovr
connol be praised highly enough.
The yeor ended with the confirmalion of £30k funding from the Communily Benefit
Fund. for new public artworks within Ihe town cenlre120.12.221. A new mural on the
goble end wall al The Robert Burns World Federalion building has been proposed
using part of the finonce.

Celebrale Kilmomock's engagements in 2022 were event tocused. concentrating
on the Heollh and Wellbeing of Ihe townspeople by promoling and nurturing their
inleraclions within the lown cenlre. They were highly successfvl. and generaled a
genuine feeling of community spirit.
Celebrate Kilmomock's Fffojecls PTe5enled nvmerous demanding chollenges ond
issue5. After many meetings. discussions ond debate. Celebrale Kilmarnock Trv51ees
made the difficull decision lo formalty slep down from The White file Projecl
12.11.221. A joinl stolement by East Ayrshire Council and Celebrole Kilmarnock will be
made in 2023.
In relation to this. it was also decided lo postpone any further Wider Stakeholder
Events until a definilive decision on subject matter is mode.
The 5t. Mamock's Square Garden project 0150 Stalled during 2022. with changes lo
the orchitecls, decision-making council personnel. logistical problems.
