Structure, Governance and Managoment
Constitution
GAMS is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation ISCIO}. It was originally a project of
Gairloch & Loch Ewe Action Forum {GALEI and was formally incorporated as a SCIO on 15th
December 2016. It has a ￿0-tIer structure with 11 members as al 3151 January 2025.
Appointment of Trustees
The Trustees act as the Board of the charity and ￿rry out the day-lo-day management. meeting
whenever necessary and generally at least bi-monthly.
Trustees will be elected or re-elected by the members at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting.
There must be a minimum of four and a maximum of eight Trustees.
Objoctivos and Activities
Charitable purposes
GAMS, purposes are..
1. The advancement of health of those residents in the area of Wesler Ross served by Gairloch
and Aultbea Medical Practice extending from Mungasdale in the north to Letterewe and Grudie
Bridge in the south comprising the villages of Gairloch, Poolewe. Aullbea and Laide and taking in
all peninsular roads wilh the settlements along such roads (the Operating Areal through the
implementation of the following purposes..
2.The organisation of recreational facilities and leisure time activity for persons resident in the
Operating Area who have need of such facilities and aclivity by reason of their age, ill health,
disability or other disadvantage with the object of improving the conditions of life of such persons.
3.The relief of those resident in the Operating Area in need by reason of age, ill health, disability or
disadvantage through the provision by way of loan of wheelchairs (powered and manual) and other
mobility aids in order to assist those in need to keep their independence and to allow them to
remain connecled lo the community in which they live together wilh provision of advice and training
in the use of such items.

Activity report for year to 31st January 2025
OUTINGS 2024
A steady group of volunteers have enabled GAMS to continue with a full schedule of outings
throughout the year. Around 50 people have shown inter8St in participating in this programme.
Most have participated in at least one trip. We repealed two of the more popular outings. Most of
the time our minibus was full. Our first outing this year was on the 24tr of April with a visit to the
Ardesier Cheese faclory. After a lour of the factory and an opportunity to buy some interesting
cheese5, we all en
oyed a tasty lunch al Wendy's café. Our driver on the day was

A trip to Ullapool with Lunch at Ullapool Golf Club
A visit to Brodie Castle

A visit to The Falconry at Shielding Lodge, followed by afternoon lea at Ihe Lodge
Pre-chrislmas trip to Invernes5, Wlth lunch at Bella ltslia and lime to view the city in all its
Christmas splendour.

FALL PREVENTION AND EXERCISE CLASS
The Fall Prevenlion Classes lake place throughout the year. wilh a shorl break over the festive
season. The classes offer an opportunity lo follow an exercise prograrnme. the main aim of which
is lo improve the individual's balance.
The classes take place in the main hall of the Gairloch Community Centre.
Some of the participants want to improve their balance, while others war)t lo maintain their present
level of balance.
There is no age limit and both men and women are welcome.
The classes take place on Friday aftemoon in the Gairloch Community Hall and run from 2.30pm
until 3.30pm

Fall Prevention and Exercise Classes: There is no fixed charge for this class. However.
donations are welcome. All profits are used to help support the work of the charity.
Future plans
We intend lo continue our operational activities over the coming year and support allied charities
and organisations that help improve the lives of the elderly and people with restricted mobility. in
this remote community.

I report on Ihe accounts of GAMS for the per￿d ended 31 st January 2025 which are set out on the
preceding three pages.
Respecllve rosponslbilltles of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the
terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotlandl Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts
(Scotland} Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of
Regulation 10(1)(dl of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. 11 is my responsibility to
examine the accounts as required under section 4411)Ic) of the Act and to siale whether particular
matters have come to my attention.
Basls of independent examiner's statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of Ihe 2006 Accounts Regulations.
An examination includes a review of the accounting records kepl by the charity and a comparison
of the accounts presented with Ihose records. It also includes consideration of any unusual rtems
or disclo8LJres in the ac¢ounls and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such
matters. The procedures undertaken do nol provide all the evidence Ihal would be required in an
audit. and consequently I do nol express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
